Son of the legendary UK singer-songwriter Roy Harper, Nick was born in London and raised in Wiltshire. Having played the guitar from the age of 10 and surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Dave Gilmour as he grew up, it was no surprise when Nick made his recording debut on his father\'s \'Whatever Happened to Jugulay\' in 1985.

He often segues from his own compositions to well-loved covers he makes his own - he takes on Presley, Zappa, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Monty Python and Public Enemy (yes, on an acoustic guitar). He also has the alarming ability to break guitar strings almost by sheer force of will and then change them without dropping a beat. For over a decade, he has been dazzling audiences and reviewers alike with this heady mix of virtuosity, boyish charm, showmanship and sheer bravado. His talent and showmanship were recognised in 2003 with a (Glasgow) Herald Fringe Angel award for excellence in live music during his Edinburgh Festival run.

Nick\'s talent and energy entranced Roy\'s fans and it was inevitable that he would begin touring and recording in his own right. The 1994 EP \'Light at the End of the Kennel\' was swiftly followed by his powerful 1995 debut long player Seed prompting The Independent to describe him as \"hugely talented\".

In 1996 Nick met Squeeze frontman and songwriter Glenn Tilbrook. Tilbrook was so impressed that he offered Nick a job playing with and supporting Squeeze and promptly signed Nick to his own label, Quixotic Records. Following tours in the UK, USA and Japan, Nick recorded the 1998 album \'Smithereens\' with Tilbrook as producer. This album and subsequent 40 date solo tour, including dates in New York and Glastonbury, confirmed Nick as a formidable talent in his own right.

Sam Rawlings: Reading from his book Circle Time published by Lazy Gramophone this is a collection of sketches: simple and honest, these poems seek to placate experience and depict the eternity beyond our landscape.

With each successive record, Jack Rose has stepped further from the Mount Rushmore-sized shadows cast by John Fahey, Robbie Basho and Bert Jansch. Sure, you can hear their influence in his choices of instrument and material. And like them, he plays steel-stringed acoustic guitar and blends American blues and folk styles with Eastern and Western elements. But Rose, unlike the rest, came to finger-picking fairly late in his personal musical evolution. He grew up listening to classic rock and graduated to punk without ever cutting ties with his old school.

Pelt, the band in which he came of age as a player, used punk\'s anything-goes ethic as permission to employ Indian instruments, as well as minimalist forms, without going through any lengthy dues-paying process. Now a solo performer, Rose is perhaps the sublimest blender of Raag and Ragtime around.

Ignatz is the one man band of a young guy called Bram Devens from Brussels, whose futuristic folk / blues inspired chanting and rambling might fit in the \"New Weird Belgium\" or freak folk movement. Stunning rootsfolk, but played by a lost and unworldly creature, his sound is a mix of fingerpicked guitar music in a cloud of effects, electronic noises and scarce lyrics - a mixture of broken English and unintelligible mantra-like repetitions. Check Devens\' two albums on Kraak for more.

SILVESTER ANFANG Silvester Anfangis a Ghent-based funeral folk / droneband collective. The line-up depends on who\'s available to record or perform, the compositions are mostly non-musical offertories to worship their almighty overlord Brohll, but every now and then things work out as free psychedelic improvisations.

The countryside of East Flanders, where the band has its recording space, is essential for the atmosphere they want to create in their music. Near the canals where Canadian soldiers once fought the Germans, there lies a sort of mystical feeling of returned calmness. Silvester Anfang also breaths that tension between quietness and restlessness - a sort of post-satanic krautfolk, residing somewhere between No Neck Blues Band and Träd, Gräs och Stenar.

St. Vincent is the band of singer-multi-instrumentalist, Annie Clark. The 23- year old is a veteran guitarist for two musical armies, The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Steven\'s touring band.

\'Marry Me\', St. Vincent\'s debut record, will be available on Beggars Banquet July 2007 and on it we see a smartly crafted deluge of guitar, bass, and beats pulsing forward with warmth and immediacy alongside Annies classy soprano. Her lyrics can be weird or tongue-in-cheek or dead serious, capturing verily what it feels like to be 23 years old in America and caught up in the delirium of love blues and wartime blues and the various swashbuckling adventures of existence.

Horns and strings cry out brassy and full-bodied over digital keyboards. Songs rock out vigorously, break down into squiggling post-noise-rock deconstructions, roll out mellow and slow-flowing as a river. Backing harmonies and kiddie choirs loom in the distance, rise, and lilt above the stately grandiosity. And she keeps good company. David Bowies longtime pianist Mike Garson shows up on two songs, as does Brian Teasley from Man or Astro-man but, mostly, its just Annie, a multi-instrumentalist for a new era.

Main support are the wonderful Fireworks Night ; a London based six-piece equally enamoured of good old folk music, more contemporary noise bands and many of the spaces in between. Essentially they play simple, lyrical songs that are expanded by sometimes beautiful, sometimes brutal layers of guitars and keyboards and highly imaginative drumming.

Violins, saws and ukuleles also join the fray to make a sound that can be as tender at times as it can be visceral at others. They can be funny and they can be deadly serious and while some songs may drone like early Low, others stomp in a fashion reminiscent of Weill. Their album As Fools We Are is out now to critical acclaim.

Gary Lucas established his reputation during five years spent playing with Captain Beefheart. He joined the last incarnation of Beefheart\'s Magic Band, distinguishing himself as an interpreter of Beefheart\'s difficult music and recording solo guitar pieces on \'Doc at the Radar Station\' and \'Ice Cream for Crow\' , which featured his solo renditions of \'Flavor Bud Living\' and \'Evening Bell\'. Of the latter, Esquire wrote \"Gary Lucas apparently grew extra fingers in order to negotiate his way through it\".

He\'s still a member of the ongoing reunion of Captain Beefheart alumni The Magic Band. Their album \'Back to the Front\' was chosen as one of the best albums of 2004 by The Wire.

So; a world class guitar hero, a Grammy-nominated songwriter, an international recording artist with over a dozen acclaimed solo albums to date, and a soundtrack composer for film and television, Gary Lucas

Dubbed the \"legendary leftfield guitarist\" by The Guardian, \"Guitarist of 1000 Ideas\" by The New York Times, \"a true axe God\" by Melody Maker and \"the thinking man\'s guitar hero\" by The New Yorker, the British world music magazine Froots recently hailed Gary Lucas as \"without question, the most innovative and challenging guitarist playing today.\" Rolling Stones David Fricke just wrote: \"Gary Lucas is one of the best and most original guitarists in America\" in a rave review of Garys new album Coming Clean.

Gary was also cited recently by the editors of Downbeat Magazine as one of their Hot 66 6-Stringers alongside John McLaughlin, Richard Thompson, B.B King, Pat Metheny, and other greats.

Gary Lucas has toured the world relentlessly both solo and with several different ensembles, including his longtime band Gods And Monsters, whose ranks once included the late, great singer Jeff Buckley. Gary co-wrote two of Jeff Buckley\'s most famous hits, \'Grace\' and \'Mojo Pin\', from his million-selling album \'Grace\' (which Mojo just named as their #1 Modern Classic Album in their March 2006 issue). Gary and Jeff\'s early collaborations can also be heard on the recent Jeff Buckley and Gary Lucas album \'Songs To No One\'.

Gary Lucas & Gods And Monsters is his current focus, with Ernie Brooks [Modern Lovers] on bass, Billy Ficca [Television] on drums and Jason Candler [Hungry March Band] on alto sax.

Time Out New York recently wrote: \"The group is mindblowing!\" and The New Yorker called them \"an underground-rock fan\'s dream team\".

The Alan Wilkinson, John Edwards & Steve Noble Trio - main support - will be revealing their new album \'Obliquity\' on Bo\'Weavil Records.

\'Obliquity\' is a free jazz record, if you\'ll forgive the use of such a hoary, old fashioned phrase. Its scorching, heads-down momentum, rhythm and drive places it in direct line of descent from the fierce originators of the genre: Ayler, Sanders, Graves, Frank Wright. It also swings. At times it dances.

\'Obliquity\' is a free jazz record through the prism of the improvisational movement in Europe, though. This is no attempt at polite revivalism or looking back/up to the 1960s. Wilkinson/Edwards/Noble are producing new, vital music of and for now. You need form to work at this level of spontaneity and certainty and any frequenter of the outer limits of the European music scene could vouch for the jazz porridge these three have put away.

Opening is C Joynes, who brings riginal and traditional tunes, cover versions, improvised pieces, hill recordings - all instrumentals, all home recorded, all brought together under the neat sub-heading of Anglo-Naive and Contemporary Parlour Guitar.

Three girls - Lisa (drums), Maria (guitar) and Victoria (vocals) - formed The Concretes in 1995. Guys were added along the line. Many left after just weeks. The girls\' work ethic left a lot to be desired and they spent most of their time plotting on how to become the perfect band. The clue seemed to be in the clothes, rather than the chords.

Time passed, the girls straightened out so the boys would stay longer (they still dressed nice though). That plan worked. Records were made. All of a sudden they\'re an eight-piece band. Together they tour Sweden. A lot. Then the UK, play big festivals, tour America, Europe, the UK again. Etc. And then they find themselves in Jonathan Ross\' Green Room, sat next to Halle Berry, waiting to perform their new single \'On The Radio\'.

But somewhere along the line the fun stopped. The band and Victoria decide to part ways then and there. It\'s a hard and sad and a very demanding time. Once the dust settles the band realise they are madly in love with each other again. The way it was when the band was new and some of them were still teenagers. They start writing new songs. Lisa has moved to London so songs are sent back and forth via email, it\'s all very Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks.

Once the songs are outlined they meet up in Stockholm and rehearse. The songs are coming together nicely. They hop in a van heading south, to Vallarum where they recorded their first full-length album some five years back. Jari Haapalainen is in the van too, their long-time friend and collaborator. Lisa is doing most of the singing, with invaluable help from Maria. (Lisa is still doing most of the drumming too, but live they\'re gonna get a drummer in, to steer clear of any Phil Collins jokes).

They record album no 3 in a week\'s time. They call it \'Hey Trouble\'. Partly to show that they\'re good sports. Partly because that\'s what their driver in America, Louie, said whenever they stepped on the tour bus. And partly because it sounds fun. And fun is all they want at this point.

They reckon they\'ve deserved it.

At the time of going to press, The Concretes are Lisa Milberg, Maria Eriksson, Martin Hansson, Per Nyström, Ulrik Karlsson, Daniel Värjö and Ludvig Rylander.

Since his first solo release proper in 2002, Christ. has proved to be as individual and creative as the next guy, forging a unique path of musical beauty that escapes derivation. Christ.\'s expert layers of melody, broken beats and textures say pretty much everything, and along with his popularity as a formidable live act, he is a rare breed indeed.

Christ. is an abbreviation of his real name, Christopher Horne, which also explains the full stop which is an official part of his handle. Christ.\'s music is often likened to that of fellow Scottish electronic group Boards of Canada. In fact, Horne was an early participant in the nebulous Hexagon Sun collective from which BoC emerged and was a collaborator with the group until approximately 1995, appearing on the \'Twoism\' album, reissued by Warp in 2002.

From minimalism to melody and back again, Isan have been on a musical journey since a chance meeting brought together Robin Saville and Antony Ryan in Leicester in 1996. Once they\'d discovered their shared love for electronic music and decided to work together, not much has been discussed.

Isan prefer to allow their sound to develop on its own, allowing their intuitive grasp of melody and the manipulation of sound to dictate their direction.

We\'ve worked with Bussetti for a while now and sad as we are to see them go, we are proud to be hosting this final celebration of the band and their music. To see the band off in style we are taking over the Luminaire for one night to present an extended set from the band as they work their way through their extensive back catalogue one last time.

Formed in Brixton in 2001 and named after their dead landlord (long story\' think Weekend At Bernies with added funk), the band went through several incarnations before finally emerging in their present many headed form in 2005. Two self released singles picked up healthy praise from the likes of Mixmag, Jockey Slut and DJ and saw the band selected to record a live session for XFM and appear on Ninja Tune\'s Solid Steel radio show.

It is in the live arena though that Bussetti have shone the most with sold out shows across London and some memorable festival appearances, including last year opening the Big Chill festival as the first act on the main stage.

The Human Beings - main support - are a London based band who were first formed in Israel in 2001 by the song writer Igal Israel who decided after attending film school to concentrate on music. Live they perfrom as a sextet, featuring glockenspiel, accordian, trumpet and piano alongise double bass and drums. The Human Beings bring together unique and exciting elements when they play merging classical and gypsy folk music with rock and psychedelia.

Bam Bam Sound is the acceptable public face of Duck and Johnny Clash, a two headed Ragamuffin Junglist B-Boy Punk-Rock Rave Monster of ill repute and can be regularly found filling floors (and fields) at the Big Chill Bar and Festival.

Murcof was founded early 2001 by only member Fernando Corona in Tijuana, México.

And always approaching technology as a tool of expression rather than as an end in itself.

Main support is Bass Clef and if you\'re able to produce the kind of bass-drops and low-end charges that inhabit much of Ralph Cumbers\' - Bass Clef - excellent debut album, you\'ll find yourself in very good company.

Bass Clef don\'t quite straddle the tried and tested Dubstep templates that have become de rigueur for the scene as the months have passed, instead opting for a more schizophrenic approach that takes-in Cumbers\' evidently well-worn collection of Idm, Dub and Jungle records, mashed up and re-processed with a heavy analogue underlay, demonstrating charm and untold heaviness.

Not entirely unlike the Werk label\'s excellent Actress, Bass Clef don\'t discriminate against any given styles, pairing off Cumbers\' Bristol roots against his current surroundings in Hackney - a sort of geographic trawl through bass culture that\'s incredibly modern yet well-grounded in over 30 years of beat science.

Polly Paulusma started playing her guitar and piano-based songs on London\'s acoustic circuit in 2001 and never looked back. She was half-way through making her first album at home when One Little Indian signed her in 2003.

The Primary 5 formed in March 2003 and comprise ex-Soup Dragons/Teenage Fanclub drummer Paul Quinn, collaborative guitarist Ryan Currie & Stuart Kidd on drums. Quinn is the main lyricist and vocalist which begs the question how many other drummers out there are capable of writing and performing such gorgeous pop balladryy Paul Quinn and Teenage Fanclub may be as far away as you can get from the risible Phil Collins and Genesis but its a scary thought nonetheless.

\"A harmony-coated, jangle-tastic, breathless set of shimmering, west coast guitar sounds, tempered by a small-town world-weariness worthy of latter-day Shack.\" [Glasgow Herald]

In 2004 The Primary 5 released their debut album North Pole which came out on Quinns own Bellbeat Music label. The bands debut show at Glasgows King Tuts in August of that year was a sell out as was a subsequent Tuts show the following Xmas. They continued to tour in 2005 this time with 60s legend Arthur Lee & Love and received terrific reviews in the process. Then, just last year they recorded their second album Go and now prepare to release this on Re Action Recordings on April 30th 2007.

Recorded in a Victorian water tower on what was once Queen Victoria\'s estate, \'And ThenNothing\' displays a dazzling range of influences and beautifully crafted songs. Ace Records and The Luminaire are excited to announce a special one off Bob Lind show and although the show will be Bobs first in the UK since 1966, it comes at a time when interest in his recordings - amongst contemporary artists especially - is at an all time high. Pulp recorded a song called \'Bob Lind\', on their \'We Love Life\' album, Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey included the Bob Lind track Cool Summer on last years critically acclaimed compilation The Trip, while Richard Hawley and the High Llamas are also fans. Richard Hawley will be performing three numbers with Bob on the night.

Bobs visit to these shores is timed to coincide with Aces reissue of \'Elusive Butterfly: The Complete Jack Nitzsche Sessions\'. These highly coveted recordings have been remastered from the original World Pacific album tapes. The reissue also includes a number of previously unissued vocal and guitar demos from Jack Nitzsches personal archives.

Born on 25 November 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, Lind is best known for writing and recording the Top 5 folk rock song \'Elusive Butterfly\' in 1966. Since then, his songs have been recorded by over 200 artists including Cher, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Richie Havens, Dolly Parton, Johnny Mathis, Glen Campbell, Carmen McRae, Petula Clark, The Four Tops and Nancy Sinatra.

Moving around frequently with his family Lind began singing folk music at clubs in Denver, Colorado. He moved to the west coast and was signed to World Pacific Records, a division of the larger Liberty Records. Produced by Jack Nitzsche, Lind played guitar on his recordings for the label, while piano was handled by Leon Russell. His first single, \"Cheryl\'s Going Home\", failed to catch on but was later covered by Cher and the Blues Project. \"Elusive Butterfly\" was its b-side and became an international Top 10 hit.

Lind was widely touted as \"the new Bob Dylan\" and the latest spokesperson for youth during 1966. His compositions continued to find interpreters, among them the Turtles, Noel Harrison, Nancy Sinatra and Bobby Sherman. Lind continued to record into the early 70s, switching to Capitol Records. Now based in Florida, he works as a writer whilst continuing to perform internationally.

Reykjavik Nights marks its debut evening of exciting new Icelandic music and Iceland\'s National Day on Sunday 17th June with a very special treat for the people of London - a group so good Fatboy Slim declared: \"I want everybody to see this band before they die\" - Trabant.

With support from sheep\'s head-eating, liquorice vodka-swilling punk band Æla, also based in Reykjavik, and highly-acclaimed Londoner Tim Tim Yen, the evening will be the first in a regular series of gig nights, held in association with Iceland Music Exports, showcasing the best new bands and musicians from Iceland and beyond.

Electro heroes Trabant are currently the biggest band in Iceland, attracting untold attention at their packed party-atmosphere gigs with a Har Mar Superstar-style attitude to on-stage attire and killer songs like \'The One\', the track which led Fatboy Slim to pursue the five-piece band all the way to their hometown to see them live. Londoners, however, won\'t have to go anywhere near the Arctic Circle to see Trabant in the flesh which is great news if the NME\'s verdict is anything to go by: \"Each song teeters beautifully between Queen and The Killers - there ain\'t no shame in this neo-glam electropop game.\"

Following a massively successful UK tour in March, Æla (pronounced \'ai-la\') will be providing a different sort of entertainment with a thunderous typhoon of inspired prog punk and some on-stage theatrics (pirates are a favourite theme) that have made them one Iceland\'s most sought-after bands. Veering between two minute bursts of thrash and more thoughtful songs about life saving fruit, Drowned In Sound summed them up perfectly with: \"Æla plays Icelandic punk rock. Audience in concerts have advised the band members to get health insurance due to their wild stage act, especially their front man who repeatedly jumps to a chair he always brings along. Mika Miko is an underground youth punk / noise band formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, featuring Jennifer Clavin, Jenna Thornhill, Michelle Suarez, Jessica Clavin and Kate Hall. Pounding their way through interesting, fast, pop songs that recall Black Flag, X-Ray Spex, The Slits or The Germs with a fresh flare of anxiousness, they\'ve gained a rabid local following for their frenetic live performances which emulate being at a party and often take place at parties.

After several self-releases and an eponymous 7\" for No Age\'s Post Present Medium imprint, Mika Miko put out their first full-length \'C.Y.S.L.A.B.F\' in the summer of 2006 - a joint release by PPM, Kill Rock Stars and Deleted Art. Entrenched in LA\'s DIY scene, the band volunteer at legendary all-ages club The Smell. No Age is Randy Randall and Dean Spunt - two heavyweights from the LA punk / skate / art underworld, who previously performed as two thirds of that post-hardcore DIY machine, Wives. A crashing collision of sweetly shouted ditties, ecstatic crunch feedback and violent bouts of percussion, the No Age sound is abound with pop songs fighting to break through a mist of white fuzz.

In March 2007, the band released a set of five vinyl only EPs across five different labels, including the \'Get Hurt\' 12\" on Upset The Rhythm. A full-length CD album entitled \'Weirdo Rippers\' compiling highlights from the EPs will be out in June on Fat Cat.

Kit are a super-melodic experimental rock band from Oakland, California. They play very fast, short, defiant songs that fuck with the ideas of pop music. Maybe they\'ll start off playing a song straight - sweetness and light abounds - but before you know it everything gets flipped on its head and chased into chaotic abstraction.

Kit songs can typically embrace hardcore rush, pop verse, ambient noise and cheer rally, all within the same moment - nothing but raw positivity and instinctive songwriting holding it all together. Kit members also perform in XBXRX, Lil\' Pocketknife, Hawnay Troof, Snowsuit* and Warbler. Their debut LP \'Broken Voyage\' is out now on UTR Records.

Ballboy, the legendary Edinburgh four-piece return to London for the first time since 2005. Ballboy combine uniquely humorous and clever lyrics against warm blankets of sound to create deeply poignant songs about everyday life. Huge favorites of the late, great John Peel and following in a rich vein of romantic guitar music similar to The Wedding Present, Ballboy are the shining light of the not-so-young sound of Scotland. The band is currently recording its fifth album and this show will be one of the first opportunities for fans to hear the results.

Ballboys frontman Gordon McIntyre will also be doing an early solo set at the all-dayer.

Bearsuit are a stop-start boy-girl twee-rock cutie-killer six-piece with everything from cinematic waltzes to catchy electro disco and hard punk screaming riot grrrl noise. Comparisons have been made to Huggy Bear, Architecture in Helsinki, Belle and Sebastian and Sonic Youth. They have recently recorded their third full length LP which will be out on Fantastic Plastic very soon.

Shrag are a girl/boy group from Brighton, their single Intelligent Theft is one of Spiral Scratchs favourite records of the moment. They feature ex-members of the Blue Minkies and have a sound that will remind you of Love is All, The Slits and Comet Gain. Theyve recently been entertaining the kids at Ladyfest Leeds and will be playing the Spiral Scratch all-dayer fresh from supporting NME darlings The Cribs on tour.

C86-tastic Horowitz are all about noisy indiepop at its finest, combined with the sweetest, most passionate lyrics in the vain of Pavement. With ex-members of the Rosehips and very deeply rooted belief in DIY pop, they have dazzled audiences around the country. Their LP \'Frosty Cat Songs\' is out now on Kitchen Records.

Leeds\' The Manhattan Love Suicides have just released their first album on Magic Marker (US), and these lovers of the fuzzy indiepop melody will remind you of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Shop Assistants and Sonic Youth. Their legendary and idiosyncratic 20-minute sets will leave you hungry for more.

If Sarah Records was still around, Electrophönvintage would be its most loved band. These French popsters take boy/girl vocals and atmospheric melodies to a whole new level by penning bittersweet songs with surprising twists, true to the spirit of early Field Mice but also to the recent sound of young Sweden.

The Cut Outs feature members of Airport Girl and The Fat Tulips and play garage rock for pop kids with short, daft guitar solos and an unerring ear for a tune (often their own!). Expect a Vaselines / Pastels / Beat Happening world of rumbling shambolic C86 tunefulness.

Corb Lund grew up in Southern Alberta living on his family\'s farm and ranches near Taber, Cardston and Rosemary. Lund left his hometown of Taber and moved to Edmonton, where he enrolled in the Grant MacEwan College to study jazz guitar and bass.

Lund was a founding member of one of Western Canada\'s independent bands, The Smalls, who during their twelve-year career sold over 35,000 of their four independently released CDs. Lund and The Smalls toured extensively in Canada, the United States and Europe, including a stint in Bosnia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. The band retired in the fall of 2001.

Lund then went to live in Austin, Texas to reflect on the next step in his career and write music for five months. Encouraged by the positive feedback he received from audiences in Austin, he and his band traveled to Nashville and recorded a few songs with producer Harry Stinson, who had previously worked with artists such as Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, and Earl Scruggs.

Main support are BJ Cole and Gareth Rowan in a new musical collaboration. Rooted in an era when bands like the Texas Troubadours, The Cherokee Cowboys and the Brazos Valley Boys could hold their own against any jazz or swing combo. A time when Country Musics audience was becoming increasingly urban, affluent and eager to shake off their Hick roots. Gingham and denim was edged out in favour of lavishly decorated Nudie suits, while sophisticated levels of production and stellar musicianship gave the music a gloss far removed from the farmyard.

This new project puts BJ Cole back in touch with some of the most definitive styles in Pedal Steel Guitar, and takes Gareth Rowan on a vocal journey unlike any he has undertaken before.

The Blazing Zoos are a bracingly bitter five-piece country band from London. The story of their gestation is long and peculiar, but involves a brief imprisonment in West Africa, a sleep-deprived hallucination in Libya and an impulsive journey to Nashville, all endured or enjoyed by the groups singer and songwriter, the journalist and author Andrew Mueller, in late 2005 and early 2006.

For reasons which made a certain amount of sense at the time, The Blazing Zoos live debut, in the summer of 2006, occurred at a beach festival in southern Albania. The Blazing Zoos\' present lineup includes former Jesus Jones members Mike Edwards (lead guitar) and Gen Matthews (drums), along with Alec Pointon (bass) and Robin Colgan (piano). They are presently unsigned, but working on rectifying this.

Formed in Glasgow four years ago over a shared love of Johnny Cash records, Sons & Daughters sound is of blackest Americana mixed with broadest Scots, Spinning dark tales of broken bones and tough love, best showcased on their Urgent and unapologetic debut full-length album The Repulsion Box in 2005.

They introduced a lyrical world of dysfunctional relationships from which there seemed no escape, played out against a wall of sound of rusty folk and drum-heavy, malevolent indie rock.

Main support are Joe Gideon and The Shark, a brother and sister duo. Brother sings, plays guitar, kid sister plays drums, guitar, keyboards, sings, glock, and anything else she can. They both used to both be in Bikini Atoll, had a couple of records out on Bella Union, made a record with Steve Albini, toured with Scout Niblett, Lisa Germano, Archie Bronson Outfit, Josh Pearson and Duke Garwood. Now they\'re making a new record with Head and thrilled to be playing with Sons and Daughters.

First on is Derek Meins - an engaging mixture of songs and off the wall performance poetry, adding up to a highly entertaining and at some points extremely amusing show. One man and a guitar but unlike anything you have ever witnessed, certainly not \"another\" singer-songwriter. Derek has been described as, \"Tom Waits before his balls dropped.\"
