Headliners <a href="http://www.thesurgens.co.uk" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >The Surgens have been unfairly depicted by some as a demented novelty act recently escaped from the country blues mental ward, The Surgens are in actuality a top-notch rock and roll combo, enormously popular on the teen-club circuit. Playing primarily twisted blues rock and roll in a surfing honky-tonk style, so popular of the time, they are of course very much part of the nu-plastic hip generation. Pa Pa Ooh Mow Mow, you betcha! So much so that Jonathan Ross and Mark Lamarr have both championed them on their radio shows.
<a href="http://www.barkerband.com" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >The Barker Band came to be after twin brothers Jake and Sam Barker began playing bluegrass with their father, Lenny and their oldest friend, Laurie Sherman. The four of them then started playing acoustic sessions in small clubs and pubs in London to very enthusiastic and receptive audiences and realised pretty quickly that there seemed to be a thirst for this kind of music. It wasn't long before they began writing and recording their own songs, drawing on influences from bluegrass, country and blues. The result is a unique blend of traditional and modern styles with the emphasis on vocal harmony.
"In a short space of time The Barker Band have reached a point many never reach. They have woven together strands of bluegrass, folk, country and blues to create a subtlely ornate tapestry, stirring and rumbling the soul along the way. Should you see The Barker Band's name on a poster (or maybe on the Time Out venue of the years very fine website - Ed), take note. It could be the invitation to the gig of the year."- [<a href="http://www.Netrhythms.co.uk" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >NetRhythms]
<a href="http://www.theunitedstoatsofamerica.co.uk" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >United Stoats Of America describe themselves as "skiffled up, stoat-tastic, lo-fi, car-boot, rustic, stomp-a-billy" and that's as good a description as any. They are certainly a hugely entertaining and at times hilarious night out. Not heard U2, Queen or Atomic Kitten intepreted in a manic banjo fuelled frenzy before? No? Then best you hotfoot it along tonight then.
<a href="http://www.twohootsandaholler.com/"target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >Two Hoots and a Holler was formed by frontman Ricky Broussard. Together with his guitar, vocals and the rhythm section - made up of Vic Gerard and Chris Staples - Two Hoots and a Holler have become one of the best bands in Austin Texas, Winning the Austin Chronicle Award for Best Roots/Rock band 7 times. They've been playing around Central Texas for almost 20 years and they still pack the bars or halls they play in. And when they play the dancefloor is always full.
They set about mixings '50s rock 'n' roll influences, a big dollop of 'Nuggets' and punk rock, and gigged to buggery. Not for nothing are they called The Needles; music doesnt come any more direct or spikier. New single 'Dianne' is released on June 5th.
Main supporters <a href="http://www.myspace.com/theschlalalas"target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >The Schla La La Las are, according to Everett True, a 'London band (which) matches the pop swagger of early Headcoatees to the fuzzed-out surf sounds of all those excellent 'Girls from The Garage' Sixties compilations, then throw in several barely in-key shouted harmonies and... man, this sounds like The Fizzbombs! <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetophone"target=_new"><span style="color: red""> Magnétophone are Birmingham natives Matt Huish Saunders and John Hanson. Friends since childhood, as boys they would often be found under water, weighed down by bricks and playing Stylophones. Displaying a gift for linguistic manipulation which has continued to sustain their career, they named this ritual the "Alpha Beti Bon-Tempi Underwater Electro-Hydro Sound-Fusion"
In 2005 they released 'The Man Who Ate The Man', which found them flirting with song structure while spinning webs of dreamily captivating texture. The album ran the gamut from sprawling psychedelia to the sweetest of melancholy snippets, aided by an impressive array of collaborators. Breeders sisters Kim and Kelley Deal and alt-folk troubadour PG Six represent underground America, while the Fence collective's HMS Ginafore and King Creosote contribute skeins of Caledonian melody.
Natasha composes songs that rise out of a dark, heartbreak wilderness and take you on a journey into the light. Taking influence from '70s film soundtracks, weather phenomena, childhood Halloween parties and a David Lynchian vision of suburbia, they occupy the tenebrous space between innocence and a loss of innocence and come straight from the storyteller's heart.
Live, the music comes across like a gun that fires wolves. Natasha's majestic vocal howls, whispers and hiccups to a backdrop of soaring strings, esoteric folk instruments, distorted guitar, bass rumbles and thunder-clap drums.
The current Bat For Lashes line up is singer Natasha and Ginger Lee who both play a mixture of piano, guitars, harpsichord, autoharp and electronic machines and three string players Anna, Mary and Abi who double up on percussion.
After years of recording in relative seclusion in the hills of Los Angeles, <a href="http://www.arielpink.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Ariel Pink
(née Rosenberg) has been welcomed open-armed into the wider world, as nothing short of a genius. With two albums for the Animal Collective's Paw Tracks label under his belt, plus releases on Ball Bearings Pinatas and Southern's Latitudes imprint, Ariel has established himself as a prolific pop crooner, beloved of critics and kids alike. His sound is the history of popular music condensed through the ears of a reclusive romantic. Recording at home on a sun-warped 8 track and making drum sounds with only his mouth, Ariel gives us music, which is grandiose yet lo-fi, completely weird yet recognisably pop, unique yet highly addictive.
Born in the dense heat of New Orleans, Louisiana, Belong is a collaborative effort between Turk Dietrich and Michael Jones. Their debut long player 'October Language' has just been released by Car Park Records and it goes beyond traditional song structure to a place where melodic figures blur and textures are gorgeously sculpted into an ocean of sound. Following in the tradition of bands such as My Bloody Valentine and Gas, guitars, synths and other musical sources are wrenched from their typical tones, revealing themselves in bright shards of distortion. The sound encapsulates their hometown, at once bathed in sunlight and colors, yet dripping in a rich sadness, attempting to display the beauty in things that are worn, decayed or destroyed.
So beguiled by <a href="http://www.endoftheroadfestival.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">End Of The Road Festival's ethos, we're delighted to hold their launch party at The Luminaire. Read at this and tell us they're not onto a winner...

"We have always joked around, saying "wouldn't it be nice to put on our own 'perfect' festival with our favourite line-up? It was only after having been to the lovely Green Man Festival in Wales in August 2005, that we finally thought to ourselves that we can make this happen and make it a quality festival where:

- you won't get all the over hyped bands headlining
- most bands play 1 hour sets
- you can eat a range of quality food
- you can drink a range of quality beers
- the security guards are decent people, who show respect to everyone
- the crowd will be there for the music

So, the idea with the End of the Road Festival is to organise an intimate festival with our favourite artists, and to offer the bands an opportunity to play longer sets, compared to most other festivals. The festival will have a friendly and relaxed feel and the Larmer Tree Gardens (North Dorset, UK) is the perfect venue to create this kind of atmosphere. The music we are putting on will attract a music-loving, open minded and chilled out crowd. This is the kind of festival where the ENTIRE line-up is the headliner in itself!

End of the Road festival will take a lot of interest in all the 'little things' that make a great festival, such as good food (organic / local), good beer, caring & well-mannered staff, hygiene etc.

We are avoiding sponsorships in order to keep our creative freedom, and in order to avoid littering the beautiful venue with commercial banners. Therefore, we are so grateful to all bands who come for the fun of it and who play for a smaller fee than they are used to.

An aim is to involve the bands as much as possible, and there will be room for bands to DJ, hold workshops and show films. A marquee will be set up for various films and workshops throughout the weekend.

As one of the festival organisers is Swedish, there will also be a Scandinavian feel to the festival with quite a few Swedish bands and hopefully Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Icelandic too. But it won't stop at that, there will also be Swedish food, clogs and other Scandinavian treats such as playing Kubb, singing Snapps songs, going for a tips promenad etc.

10 June - FLOW + Guests

FLOW
SCARLET'S WELL
+ Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta

Doors 8.00
£6

Scarlet's Well: Descended from a long line of Indian kings ("It's still, technically, an offence for the <a href="http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/royalty/britain/queen-elizabeth-ii/queen-is-pregnant.jpg" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >British Queen to step on his shadow."), Bid began his musical career while a teenager in giddy Punk Rock London. He played in The B-Sides before they became Adam and The Ants, and then founded The Monochrome Set in 1978 with early Ants refugees Lester Square and Andy Warren. Their first singles appeared on the original Rough Trade label. Since 1998 he has curated <a href="http://www.bid.clara.net/swell/" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >Scarlet's Well, less a pop band than an exotic secret world, a walled garden whose ivy-covered door implores the curious to try its handle.
Attempts to pigeon-hole Scarlet's Well musically are ultimately frustrated, though the desperate might invoke comparisons with upstarts like The Divine Comedy (fop-pop crooning), Tindersticks (exotic, atmospheric arrangements) and The Magnetic Fields (eccentric, but accessible songwriting, a multitude of styles and genres). Other names that spring to mind are The Tiger Lillies (the band from the stage show 'Shockheaded Peter'), Kurt Weill, Kate Bush, Tom Waits covered by girls and girlish men, as well as Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Into The Woods (non-ironic, Gothic fantasy songs laced with metaphor, wordplay, symbolism, soul, and love).
Main support from The Jazz Butcher: "Pat Fish/The Jazz Butcher is one of the most brilliant incisive pop writers Britain has produced since the glory days of Ray Davies and Pete Townsend. Criminally overlooked by a media obsessed by the next big thing instead of what is actually good. A truly great songwriter." [Alan McGee]
First on are <a href="http://www.littlesparta.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta.
Recalling slightly perhaps the ambience of Lambchop, maybe Tom Waits, Ivor Cutler. Even Mike Skinner's more reflective moments, Gerry's gritty wordplay partnered with the purity and etheral beauty of Little Sparta's music creates something all of it's own. They'll certainly challenge everything you think you know about spoken word and music. Their previous performances and Scalpel Slice album on Fire Records certainly have for these reviewers:

Frances McKee & Eugene Kelly started out as friends and teenage lovers in '86 and called themselves <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vaselines"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">The Vaselines. 53rd & 3rd released their sweet yet oh so twisted indie pop via Rough Trade and the words "seminal", "god-like" and "underrated" have been bandied about ever since.
The Vaselines lived fast, died young and left a good looking back catalogue to which Kurt Cobain became addicted. Nirvana covered the Vaselines 'Son Of A Gun' and 'Molly's Lips', as well as performing 'Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam' on their legendary MTV Unplugged appearance. The Vaselines re-united briefly for a one-off gig with Nirvana in 1990, and SubPop reissued all of their recordings.
From there Frances opted to corrupt young minds on a more one to one level and became a primary school teacher. Eugene became Captain America and then Eugenius, working with everyone from Teenage Fanclub to the Lemonheads.
Like most things with The Vaselines, this reunion came about by accident. Having not spoken for years, Frances and Eugene met to discuss renewing their SubPop deal and realised they were both in the midst of releasing solo albums. Frances was looking to do some gigs, Eugene fancied doing some too and it all fell together in the same haphazard way as it had done 20 years previously.
So here's how its currently looking:
Eugene Kelly solo and acoustic performing songs from his recently released 'Man Alive' album. Frances McKee and musical friends delivering songs from her new debut solo album 'Sunny Moon'.
Followed by Eugene and Frances performing some Vaselines classics. Well that's the plan, but then The Vaselines never really had a plan, they were just making it up as they went along.
Still are, it would seem...

18 June - Closed for strawberry picking

19 June - JAMES MORRISON + Jo Mango

*SOLD OUT*

<a href="http://www.jamesmorrisonmusic.com/"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">James Morrison, aged 21, has just finished recording his debut album, a spellbinding collection of raw, bittersweet, bluesy-soul songs. He's also the owner of probably the most gobsmacking, charismatic, rootsy soul voice to emerge from a white Englishman, even though he would never describe himself as a 'soul' singer.
Heavily influenced by artists like Otis Redding, Al Green, Cat Stevens, and The Kinks, he's got substance to match his style and lyrics that pack an authentic emotional punch.
He wrote all the songs on his debut album 'Undiscovered' which was produced by Martin Terefe (who also produced KT Tunstall, Ron Sexsmith and Ed Harcourt) and will be released in the Summer of '06. Recently James with his full band supported Corinne Bailey Rae and her UK tour and recently appeared on 'Later With Jools Holland.'

20 June - ENVELOPES [Swe] vs MORTON VALENCE [Eng] Group B match

The Luminaire and <a href="http://www.myspace.com/stopusnot"target=_new"><span style="color: red""> Stop Us Not presents
Doors open at 7.00 for the pre-match build-up with the <a href="http://www.myspace.com/stopusnot"target=_new"><span style="color: red""> Stop Us Not DJs playing alternate English and Swedish bands and everyone swilling one of seven different flavours of <a href="http://www.kopparbergs.com/"target=_new"><span style="color: red""> Koppabergs Swedish Cider.

At 8.00 a huge screen in front of the stage and two plasma screens around the room will show the potentially crucial Sweden vs England Group B match live from Cologne, then, as the final whistle blows, the screen will rise to reveal one of two bands - England's <a href="http://www.mortonvalence.co.uk"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Morton Valence or Sweden's <a href="http://www.envelopes.se"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Envelopes - standing ready to go. The winning country will play first, no doubt to a rapturous welcome from their countrymen and women in the room, followed by the gallant losers [or maybe not if they happen to win the group anyway or get through as one of the highest second placed teams, but let's not start second guessing things.
The whole thing will be compered by someone from the country who's refereeing the match, assuming FIFA announce the <a href="http://worldcup.reuters.co.uk/home/news/usnL03138109.html"target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >referee soon enough to give us time to find one and if they announce that it's Carlos Batres from Guatemala, we'll maybe just do it ourselves.
Representing England [with an infiltrating Columbian contingent] are the classy, uplifting and intoxicating Morton Valence.
Playing for Sweden [but starring a French girl in the mould of Zidane] are the reknowned chaotic popsters, Envelopes.
As the game rages on the field in Cologne, the tension backstage will become upbearable for their counterparts in London, hoping against hope [what does that mean, exactly?] that they will emerge victorious under the famous Luminaire mirror ball and hold aloft [a £500, gold-plated replica of] the World Cup before their adoring fans.
"Stellar" (Observer Music Monthly)
"So irresistibly lovely it makes you want to hug strangers on the street." (Q)
"Wracked like early Lennon, resigned and confessional like Springsteen, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/onelongsong"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Jont will be huge."
(Sunday Times Culture)
And by way of further explanation, we'll let the man do the talking himself...
"I left London for New York in April 2003 after being in various bands, having had different managers and deals fall through. I was going to go to L.A. but I'd fallen in love with a girl who worked behind the bar at a pub in Archway who'd just moved to New York. So, telling myself and my friends that I was going to find a new manager and to set up my night UNLIT in Brooklyn, I went to try to track her down.
"'One Long Song', my debut mini-album, is a taster, an introduction to a larger collection of songs, sparked by that decision to leave. In these six tracks there is birth (of my niece, in 'You Can Be The Stars'), death (of my manager and friend Tony Meilandt in 'Can't Turn The Sea Off'), a break up, loneliness and epiphany.
"Now further into this adventure, I have a flat in L.A. (you see I got there eventually) and UNLIT has become a hybrid of a house-party and a gig, featuring various different invited performers in changing locations around the city most Friday nights. Also I met up with some guys who saw the world the same way and were able to make my music sound like it should, called Keefus, Sam and John, or - Green, Music and Gold."
The touching sentiment of, 'Sweetheart', featured on the Original Soundtrack to the 'The Wedding Crashers' and a huge underground following of movie ushers developed in America. Sitting solitary and entranced as the credits rolled, the ushers would invite their friends along for closed doors listens to the song and collectively exchanged messages and stories on Jont's packed <a href="http://www.myspace.com/onelongsong"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Myspace page detailing their experiences. It is this inadvertent Midas touch that continually endears and enriches, touching strangers stranded in the mundane and bringing them into the warm, into the special.
With UNLIT continuingly evolving from Los Angeles to London via Luton (his parties garner serious rumbles in the tuned-in underground), Jont refuses to settle for the conventional or clichéd. Aided by an extraordinary band; a veritable trove of exceptional musicians, his live experience has become a wholly fresh and exciting new proposition.
In conclusion (yet this, the very start) Jont encapsulates the very essence of a true artist; his life; a fascinating, bewitching story involving curious events crossed with times of great pain. His uncompromising attitude is testament to the beautiful songs that feature on 'One Long Song'. He is never earnest, forever humorous, and if he wasn't a musician he would now be playing professional cricket for Middlesex.

22 June - HEADLAND + Player Piano + the English Channel + Neave

Touchy Feely & The Luminaire
Looking for a suitable musical distraction from that leather-bound bag of air you've been obsessing over all day?
Looking to dance away your woes or celebrate in style? Then look no further, as <a href="http://www.myspace.com/clashmagazine"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Clash Magazine opens its doors to the monthly <a href="http://www.myspace.com/clubclash"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Clash Club for another spectacular night of merriment.
This month's Clash Club boasts an axis of bands more stunning than Brazil's trio of strikers working in mellifluous harmony. Three distinct musical acts whose differing facets will combine to plant a melodic kiss upon your ears and a spring in the step of your dancing feet.
Clearly standing out from the crowd, <a href="http://www.unionofknives.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Union of Knives make music that is an amalgamation of steely hard electronics and soaring melodies where emotive lyrics sit alongside industrial beats. They are top of the class in a new school of Glasgow bands setting the UK music scene alight and will showcase at Radio Clash an innovative mix of live, laptop and DJing including sneak previews of their of their storming new album 'Violence And Birdsong', soon to be unleashed on Relentless Records.
Four likely lads from Leeds form <a href="http://www.thesunshineunderground.co.uk"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">The Sunshine Underground, a rhythm colossus who have been making waves across the UK since their signing to ultra cool label City Rockers. They recently supported LCD Soundsystem and their sweaty sold out gigs have earned the band a 'Live Band of the Year' award as well as success as Zane Lowe's 'Fresh Meat' winners. A perfect mix of the euphoria of dance and the grit of rock. Not to be missed.
Deaf Stereo are a Camden 5-piece who effortlessly combine anthemic indie with throbbing electro-house, like a sonic tag-team wrestling match between The Verve and The Rapture, with Leftfield invading the ring to smack both sides about with a fold-up chair. Their reputation as party-starters saw them opening for Mylo at Brixton and becoming the highlight of the TDK Festival and various Adventures In The Beetroot Field events last year.
The fourth in the continuing Clash Club legacy follows blinding previous events that played host to Jeremy Warmsley, Action Plan, Radioclit, Low Sparks, Spektrum, The Fratellis, Pull Tiger Tail, 747s and Midlake.
Clash, the groundbreaking and award-winning bi-monthly music and fashion magazine, is proud to continue its association at London's Luminaire in Kilburn and we, London's Luminaire in Kilburn, are proud to continue our association with Clash, the groundbreaking and award-winning bi-monthly music and fashion magazine.
Our headliners, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/johnnyboyuk"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Johnny Boy, have written one of our favourite songs of the past five years.
Read this:
"Johnny Boy, a duo comprising Davo from Liverpool and Lolly from London, hook up Spector's echoing glockenspiels, acoustic guitars and fanfare brass to a gradually galloping rhythm and a melody of heartbreaking sadness and joy. Then Lolly's voice (part indie-girl fragility, part Shangri-La stridency) paints a picture of winter evening streets swimming with consumerist middle-youth 'heathens', complaining that things are getting worse, yet unable or unwilling to grasp their own cool-hunting complicity." [<a href="http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/reviews/story/0,13875,1219494,00.html"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">The Guardian, single of the month]
"Taking Phil Spector's "wall of sound" and projecting it against infinity, they make a sound that stretches all the way from the 1960s to 2010. Johnny Boy is Karl Marx produced by Trevor Horn, Xenomania with C4 strapped to their
chests, a Molotov cocktail delivered to the beat." [<a href="http://www.staticmultimedia.com/content/music/reviews/cd/review_1139191787"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Static Media]
"Unadulterated joy and tons of unabashed fun, without retraction or apology or deference, just fist-pumping, hip-swaggering, and bonkers tunes." [<a href="http://www.stylusmagazine.com/review.php?ID=3710"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Stylus]
Main support, <a href="http://www.saintjudesinfirmary.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Saint Judes Infirmary prove the Velvet Underground would have sounded great with a Scottish accent. Dark and poetic, they may also be the first band to name a song after Jack Vettriano.
"Truly spine-tingling dream pop...star-crossed mix of Blondie and Leonard Cohen." [BBC]
"Fire and brimstone country...similarly unexpected meditations on the bombing of Dresden in 1945 and actress Jean Seberg offer a glimpse into a world of laudable strangeness. [Q Magazine]
And here's the dope on <a href="http://www.indelicates.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">The Indelicates:
"Neo-Brecht/Weill theatricality? Check. Profane razor strop wit? Check. Irreverent misanthropy? Check. Scathing socio-cultural critiques? Check. Acid sweet indiepop songcraft? Check. Meet the first Great band of 2006, the fabulously unfashionable, unfashionably fabulous Indelicates. [Rolling Stone]
"One of the most exciting new bands in the country." [Gigwise]
"Stunning." <a href="http://www.myspace.com/nedelle/"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Nedelle is someone you might not know too much about. If smooth melodies, bossa nova-influenced chord structures and gorgeous layers of vocal harmony aren't what you expect from the <a href="http://www.killrockstars.com/"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Kill Rock Stars label, 'From the Lion's Mouth', the second solo effort from Nedelle and her first for KRS, may take you by surprise.
Opening with a simple, plucked guitar line and delicately placed strings, the understated, seductively sunny sound is like crayons coloring the lines of a perfectly drawn coloring book. But it is her voice that you connect with immediately; Nedelle's singing has the intimate quality of Dusty Springfield or Karen Carpenter.
"I'm not full-fledged indie rock," Nedelle admits. "I often ask myself what I'm doing in this world when I'm not indie rock, but I don't want to be commercial. I'd love to carve out a niche for myself."
Main support - <a href="http://www.myspace.com/thesingingadams/"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">The Singing Adams - is a fine example of how you can name your music project after yourself without using your first name. Its Steven out of The Broken Family Band with some friends, just doing songs and stuff. Next year it will be noisy, at the moment its quite folky.

26 June - CORB LUND & THE HURTIN' ALBERTANS + Guests

The Luminaire presents
<a href="http://www.betesnoires.com/"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">The Bete Noires headline with electric alt-rock from Belfast.
Hailing from the historic city of Bath, <a href="http://www.grandroseband.com" target=_new"><span style="color: red"" >Grand Rose Band has been sharing its energetic and near-legendary live performance with audiences all over the country, incorporating the power and passion of Wreckless Eric and the Pogues with
the songwriting and musical strength of Nick Cave and Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
"Bathonians playing head swaying, REM style melodies with Led Zep/Bowie undertones. Bristol should jump up and pay attention." [Decode Magazine]
First on are <span style="color: red"">New World Record who formed in the later part of 2004. After a limited release featuring songs recorded during the band's early sessions, word quickly spread as the recordings soon began to catch the attention of musos and industry figures. Starting with a sold out live debut at the Betsey Trotwood in London, the band have since built a strong national live presence, playing with the likes of Hard Fi, Editors, Hal, Absentee and The Archie Bronson Outfit and were winners of the Red Stripe Cambridgeshire Band Competition 2005.
In November 2005 the Band released their first official EP, 'Always Already', which cemented their reputation as one of the most exciting new bands around and received widespread critical acclaim. New World Record are currently playing live across the UK in support of their most recent release as well as recording tracks for their 2nd EP, due Summer 2006.
"Part two of tonight's action are some hot young lads to keep an eye on. <a href="http://www.myspace.com/punchfightuk"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Punchfight had a hard act to follow but these cheeky young scamps charmed us like the artful dodger in a sweet shop. These guys play gang mentality music, yodel their lungs out and serenade the ladies. They look like The Strokes, sound like XTC and have the 'savoir faire'
of Adam and The Ants, so get your friggin' hair cut and do your French homework, kiss some girls and sign Punchfight if you run a record label cos they are gonna seduce the next generation." [Artrocker]
Main supporters are <a href="http://www.youandtheatombomb.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">You & The Atom Bomb. Known for their urgent, mercurial live shows, they reference several musical genres but pledge allegiance to none. Expect dizzy time signatures and inexpedient dances. Artrocker

<a href="http://www.plansandapologies.com"target=_new"><span style="color: red"">Plans & Apologies are a seven piece indie jangle-pop outfit with a twist hailing from the little known city of Derby, England. They released their debut album, Torn Out Pages From The Middle Agez, on Artists Against Success in January 2002. The critical response was excellent, with DrownedinSound.com awarding the album 5/5 and Careless
Talk Costs Lives magazine writing: "the twee kids have got bulletproof vests on underneath their cardigans and, fuck me, it sounds good". Their melody, lyrics and structure never fail to grab the listener's imagination, with their tunes implanting themselves in the mind for weeks to come.
