The Johnny Parry Trio are a piano trio. As Johnny growls and whispers over his piano, Ben Milway plays his drums like a one-man orchestral percussion section and Dave Lynch manages to make his fretless bass twist between burlesque jazz to the effect of melodic cello. All this is coupled with a laptop which occasionally unleashes large orchesteral flourishes and visuals form artist Andy Holden.

Show Without Punch are also a piano-led trio, sitting somewhere between Tom Waits and Regina Spektor, creating a somehow homogenous mix of bitter tongue-in-cheek perfect pop-ballads, funk, skiffle and even a little drum \'n\' bass. Roger Illingworth provides gruff vocals over percussive piano lines, backed by Adam Jarvis on upright and electric bass, and Raph Saib on drums.

Opening the evening is the electrionic/acoustic/visual world that is The Grubby Mitts. Samplers, sax, piano, drums, guitar, bass and many other musical trinkets weave though the spiraling compositions. The result bends between moments of intimate sound collage to the joyous roar of the live musicians.

The 6 Day Riot sound is both eclectic and at the same time entirely integrated - harnessing banjos, ukeleles, guitars and accordians with Eastern European folk beats, bluegrass rhythms, distorted guitars and infectious pop melodies to create a style of music utterly their own.

Born and bred in Cornwall England, raised in the middle of nowhere, nourished on honey comb, bathed in mud and rinsed in creek water, opening act Lily Fraser seems quite normal in every day life. With a fast-growing following and described as \"Beauty unleashed... Lily\'s songs tread the tightrope between dignity and abandonment abandonment always being the winner, flanked onstage by her wild and wanton girls on harp and cello together with rocking guitars and drums.

Opening, Mayor McCa was previously hailed as, The One-Man-Band Singing Sensation, and now the self-proclaimed, \"Hardest Working Man in Show Business\". Either way, Mayor McCa is something of an anomaly. When performing live he sits on a kick drum which he pounds with his right foot. With his left foot he drops the bass along with an invention he calls the Tambourine-Machine. With his two remaining appendages he rocks out on the electric guitar, consequently rhythmically jiggling another of his inventions, The Maraca Wrist-Band. When he\'s not sucking or blowing down harmonicas, kazoos or any other sonic contraption, he is soulfully pushing air over his vocal chords and forming noises that portray his most deep-felt thoughts and emotions. He released his new full-length album \'Cue Are Es Tea You\' in September of last year, this is one unique experience you should not miss.

Belleruche, the London based Turntable Soul trio have been working feverishly to produce their debut album following the success of their limited edition own label 7\" releases over the last two years. Recently signed to the innovative Tru-thoughts Records, the home of Quantic & Nostalgia 77, the album is due for release on the 16th of July and tonight, at Luminaire, they will launch it. Support will be provided by DJ Vadim the international independent jetset superstar DJ/Producer with a record box to suit every occasion.

Belleruche produce handmade hip-hop-blues-soul. Like Sarah Vaughan, Django Reinhardt and Cut Chemist stuck in a lift with Russian beer and a sampler.

The band\'s new album provides a fuzzy snapshot of the Belleruche trio\'s different approach to music and production combining heartfelt melodies with twisted scratched drums, snap sharp snares with chopped vintage basslines, and vinyl soul with hook filled songs.

The tracks on \'Turntable Soul Music\' conjure thoughts of Stax Records recording Django Rheinhardt with Dr Dre controlling the mixing desk. Or Eryka Badu jamming with Mixmaster Mike recorded onto analogue tape by the Dust Brothers.

Sunny Sweeney\'s debut disc is a refreshing slice of traditional honky tonk enlivened with a dollop of rock \'n\' roll energy. Sweeney comes off as a small town girl, full of charm and sassy, who gets up to perform with a local band. The differences are that she has a real talent for singing and a knack to selecting tunes. Hailing from the musically fertile East Texas, Sweeney\'s singing contains a hard Texas twang, which gives her voice a true sense of character.

The young singer displays a veteran\'s skill in choosing her tunes. There are a couple tracks from ace Nashville songsmith Jim Lauderdale, who also duets with her on the Lucinda Williams-ish Keith Sykes-penned \'Lavender Blue\'. She flashes her grit on the rocking cover of Libbi Bosworth\'s \'East Texas Pines\' and a rapid-fire take on Tim Carroll\'s \'If I Could\'. She also more than holds her own on two of the better-known covers, the old Lacy J. Dalton hit \'16th Avenue\' and Iris DeMent\'s lovely \'Mama\'s Opry\'.

The latter tune, as well as Audrey Auld\'s marvellously self-deprecating number \'Next Big Nothing\' match up well with Sweeney\'s small town Texas gal personality. Sweeney\'s own tunes also deal with her themes of small town life and relationship troubles. On the memorable \'Ten Years Pass\' she revisits her old hometown and her old flame. The title track concerns an old high school boyfriend who \"is in the heartbreaker\'s hall of fameas today\'s main honoree.\"

Her third original, \"Slow Swinging Western Tunes,\" another tale of love gone bad, recalls the songs of Kasey Chambers, one of her heroes. Sweeney, who helped to produce this disc, shows an ample amount of confidence and composure on her first full length. She has a strong idea of who she is as a singer and performer, and her instincts are proven correct on this impressive effort. It\'s not just an easy pun to proclaim that Sunny Sweeney has a bright future.

Cheyne Pride, born in Florida raised in New England has always sung. Soul, blues, rock, jazz, classical and pop were all played in the house where she grew up, but she says \"My voice was made to sing country.\" A Belfastian, Patmo\'s a great guitarist, veteran of many bands through the years. Great songwiter and all-around cool guy.

Half Cousin hail from Orkney and combine junk percussion, cheap electronics and family heirlooms to make distorted junkyard pop that is beguiling, detailed and euphoric.

Opening are good frieds of Luminaire, Player Piano and we\'re very pleased to have them here on this most excellent bill.

Player Piano is a musical outfit helmed by self-admitted American, Jeremy Radway. The music is an amalgamation of the various guises Radway has worn throughout the ages (if Sly Stone and David Bowie co-hosted a daytime chat show, Player Piano would be the house band).

Radway claims the purpose of the music is to \"excite the alpha particles in the brains of those who hear, helping them to \'open their inner wormhole.\"

A 2-song, 7-inch vinyl disc is due for a mid-July release on Analogue Catalogue Records.

\"However he dresses his tunes, Radways innate pop sensibilities and deadpan showmanship make for hugely entertaining viewing, like Eels or Ben Folds, only with better tunes.\" [The List]

Hailing from New York and favourites of Jeffrey Lewis are Cheese on Bread. This six-piece blend The Beach Boys\' sense of harmony, They Might Be Giants twisted pop glory with unfailing enthusiasm and a sense of innocent wonder.

They met at a University café, the bastard child of a post-structuralist education and a rather poor dinner menu. Their boy/girl gay/straight antifolk pop is a blend of cultural commentary, catchy harmony and complete silliness.

The Wave Pictures are superb, London-based songsmiths with beautifully crafted tunes reminiscent of The Go-Betweens with a dark soul.

Combining the song-writing genius of Jonathan Richman, the lo-fi humility of Herman Dune and a few guitar moments that Springsteen himself would be proud of. Imagination, humour, melodies and chords, twangy basslines of beauty. The kind of band whose songs you put on all mixtapes, who you urge your friends to listen to. [Roku Distro fanzine]

Having performed with the Jeffrey Lewis Band and as backing band and co-songwriters for John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats, they have built a reputable following from those who know and have recently completed a tour in support of Darren Hayman to critical acclaim.

Time Out favourites, David Cronenbergs Wife , who originate from Manchester and Bolton, have been regulars on the UK Antifolk roster since 2004, toured the UK and New York and have supported Damo Suzuki and British punk progenitors Wreckless Eric & The Television Personalities.

The sing about themes that haven\'t been much covered yet: loving an anorexic girl and the urge to jump in front of trains set to a soundtrack that embodies the dark energy of late 70\'s Manchester and punk psychedelia.

In a rare one-off, our standards have slipped and OntheTv are allowing a boy to gaze into the headlights on The Luminaires stage. But only briefly. At the beginning. After a short while the girls will take over again, but were letting the boy on cause we think hes okay at the whole singing thing.

More on Havana Guns describe themselves as \"pretty, vacant and willing\" and their music as \"motorcycle pop featuring saccharine vocals, droning guitars, warm organ sounds and tambourines.\" Their latest single \'N.Y.C.S.\' was released on indie label Cigarette in March of this year, scoring a handy 4/5 stars in Rolling Stone.

Main support - The Fay Wrays - got together after finding there was an absence of indie with a bit of bite. Lead singer is Lucie, sister of Carl Barat (of Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things) and the drummer is the son of one of the Iron Maidens. Beat that Lily Allen. Theyve been called Oasis for the indie crowd but dont let that put you off. Theyre really much, much better.

Opening are Schtarlings. No, not Sean Connerys favourite bird. Whilst lead singer Gaz may attempt to take flight onstage (and yes, hes a boy, which is why this time around GIRLS!GIRLS!GIRLS! is BOYS!GIRLS!GIRLS!) and his dancing is reminiscent of the best super-8s of the long lost \'60s, their modern take on post-modern indie melds hard pop with candy rock and gloss-heavy riffs.

Self-produced in their own south London studio (\'The Premise), Grand Drive\'s fifth album \'Everyone comes 10 years after their debut single \'Tell It Like It Is\' and marks the return of brothers Danny and Julian Wilson to Loose Music: the label that yielded their first LPs \'Road Music\' and \'True Love And High Adventure\' (\"the first stone-cold classic of the 21st Century\", raved Sleazenation) - records recently cited by Romeo Stodart as an influence on The Magic Numbers.

The Wilson brothers kept busy in their time away from Loose. A major label deal with BMG saw the re-release of the two aforementioned titles plus two more acclaimed albums (\'See The Morning In\' and \'The Lights In This Town Are Too Many To Count\'), several \'A\' list singles courtesy of BBC Radio 2, tours of the USA and Europe and the means to set up their own studio.

In addition Julian has toured the world playing keyboards for Damien Dempsey and has successfully launched the Wonky Atlas imprint, while Danny recently released his own solo set The Famous Mad Mile on French imprint Fargo, which has seen him touring throughout Europe and as far afield as Australia.

Alongside long-time associate Ed Balch, Danny and Julian - with a little bit of help from their friends (notably Pete Wareham of Acoustic Ladyland who adds the sublime saxophone part to End Of Duty) - have now produced an album that contains all the classic Grand Drive trademarks, namely brilliant, evocative songwriting that\'s rich in harmony and heavy in soul, played with an insistent determination to stay true to themselves.

The Andy McGoldrick memorial gig at Luminaire last July was an emphatic tribute to a man loved by so many throughout his life. On that special day, an array of friends took to the stage to deliver an inspirational night of music that Andy would have truly been proud of. It\'s one year on since Andy\'s tragic loss, and another cast of his close friends return to Luminaire to pay tribute to his legacy, and to raise funds for a charity who Andy worked with so devotedly throughout his life.

Dirty Do Goods\'s tunes are just like their performances - loud, bouncy and rowdy ditties that urge you to move your body. Couple these tunes with the onstage chemistry between the two vocalists, the effortless swagger of the rhythm section, and Leon Dee\'s impeccable guitars, and you\'re left with something to get very excited about. A band very close to Andy in many ways, the Do Goods head-up this bill from Harrow\'s hot bed of talent that had in some way been touched by Andy\'s work.

The Natives and their \"charming brand of agitated riot pop.\" [NME] had considerable success earlier this year with infectious debut single \'Bright Lights\' and tours with Rifles and Milburn only proved that the band is built for success. Their attitude-laden live show is something not to be missed, as devoted, sweaty fans sing every word back to enigmatic front man Darren Gallagher.

The Baskervilles are an indie quintet fronted by poet dreamer Danny Sparrow, whose tunes, melodies and lyrics trigger thoughts of something quintessentially English. Already followed by an avid fanbase, The Baskervilles produce the kind of singalongs (\'Lebanon\' and \'Londoner\') deserving of the bigger stage.

DJ Scotch Egg aka Shigeru Ishihara has been creating a storm across the globe with his Game Boy gabba and maniacal obsession with savoury food products, particularly Kentucky Fried Chicken, over the last few years, with a string of releases on Adaadat and soon to be Load.

In this latest incarnation - Drumize - Shigeru switches the confines of 8-bit handheld gaming for the unlimited musical expanse of laptop technolgy and enlists the backing of an all-star crew, including 3 drummers - Liam Trencher, Tom I\'m Being Good and E-da Boredoms - plus the vocal talents of Akiko Pre / Comanechi. This show follows a slot supporting Devo at Jarvis Cocker\'s Meltdown! Get ready to be amazed!

A collective formed in Liverpool in 1998 a.P.A.t.T. are pretty much impossible to classify! United by their a.P.A.t.T. branded nurses\' outfits, but performing with everything from 2 to 7 members and going through a constant evolution of hardware and software changes, the group fuses mathy, synth-led moments with almost klezmery freak-outs rendered in accordion, strings, brass and piano. Think the missing link between The Locust, Danielson Famile and A Hawk and A Hacksaw and you may be getting close!

Duracell is Andre Diamant. France\'s self-proclaimed \"one man Bolt\", this dude performs covers of Sega and Nintendo classics, using only samples triggered by lightning quick drumming on a stripped down kit. Perhaps the ultimate in self-sufficent one-man band noise gymnastics.

A six-headed beast, also from Liverpool, Stig Noise have been putting on incendiary, legendary live shows with soulmates a.P.A.t.T and the Adaadat crew for quite some time now. Brazilian-born and now Hackney resident Cibelle, draws on the Brazilian Tropicalia movement of the 1960s using phychedelia, folk and electronica, with childrens toys for percussion and, stunning vocals.

Opening the evening are SonVer who tread a post-rock path of layers, loops and atmospherics - fusing electric cello, guitar, percussion and disembodied electronica to create their unique soundscapes.

The soundtrack feel to SonVer\'s music has led to collaborations with film producers and theatre companies and SonVer incorporate DVD visuals from filmmaker Simon Bryant into their live sets, creating an intense and mesmerising experience for the audience.

Drifting like mist on the river, booming like ships that collide in the night, as plangent as rain on glass, and sometimes as harshly implacable as waves against the sea wall, SonVer\'s music melds cello, guitar, effects and samples with nimble grace and otherworldly effect. [Starvox]

Wanda Jackson (born Wanda Jean Jackson, on October 20, 1937, in Maud, Oklahoma) was the first female rock and roll singer in the United States, releasing her debut record in 1956. She is often hailed as the \"Queen Of Rockabilly.\"

Jackson was still in high school when country singer Hank Thompson heard her sing on an Oklahoma City radio show and asked her to record with his band. She dated Elvis Presley, who encouraged her to step away from the country-tinged gospel she had been performing since childhood and try her hand at rock and roll. She developed her own distinctive voice and performed in a variety of styles, from folksy traditional tunes to country twang and high yodels to throaty, suggestive ballads. She was a prolific singer of songs with wry lyrics such as \"Fujiyama Mama,\" which contained many references to the World War II bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; ironically, it became a #1 hit in Japan. Her biggest hit was 1959\'s \"Let\'s Have a Party.\"

Jackson achieved great and continuing success throughout Europe, Asia, and Australia, but has never found the same level of fame in her native United States. She toured with rock and roll pioneers such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly. She has been nominated for two Grammys, and has been awarded the Oklahoma Native Daughter Award. She has been inducted into the Oklahoma Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the International Hall of Fame, the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, and the German Country Music Hall of Fame, but remains conspicuously absent from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 1996, Jackson was invited by alt-country singer Rosie Flores to duet with her on an upcoming album. The two were so pleased with the results that Jackson joined Flores on a handful of promotional club dates which were soon extended into a five-week North American tour. Jackson, pleasantly surprised to discover that she and her songs were known by a generation of rockabilly fans her grandchildren\'s age, soon assembled her own band and returned to clubs and festivals, where she continues to perform.

In recent years Jackson has recorded with such artists as The Cramps, Lee Rocker, Dave Alvin, and Elvis Costello. 2006 saw the release of a new Jackson album, \'I Remember Elvis\'.

In 1976 singer Robert Lloyd, with guitarist/drummer brothers Alan and Paul Apperley formed The Prefects - Birmingham\'s first punk group. The band were part of The Clash\'s \'White Riot Tour\', toured with Buzzcocks, played with The Slits, The Fall, The Damned and many others.

The band acquired legendary status in the UK, partly because no records were released until the band had split up, and then, up until recently, only one posthumous single on Rough Trade. However, in November 2004 a retrospective compilation \"Amateur Wankers\" was released by NYC label Acute Records which, twenty five years after the group\'s demise, garnered praise all over, from webzines to Rolling Stone. The interest was such that now a \'Live in 1978\' CD has also been released. The Prefects\' final line up transformed into The Nightingales.

He makes Jamie T look like a novice, accoring to big Jeff from Pom Pom Promotions.
