Cortney\'s debut mini album was released in the UK only in March 2006. Her debut full length album \'Don\'t Let Stars Keep Us Tangled Up\' was recorded during the second half of 2005 in Nashville, and features guest appearances from Kurt Wagner and William Tyler of Lambchop, Jonathon Marx (a former founder member of Lambchop) and Ryan Norris of Nashville electronic act Hands Off Cuba. It was co-produced by Tidwell and her husband Todd.

Rose Melberg fronted some of the most beloved and definitive American indiepop bands of 1990\'s including K Records legends The Softies and Tiger Trap. A productive over achiever, Rose has given us a seemingly endless avalanche of mellifluous albums to treasure since the first Tiger Trap record was released in 1993.

Her second solo album \'Cast Away The Clouds\' is her most honest and mature work to date whilst still retaining the vulnerable and delicate charm of The Softies. With the album recently giving an official UK release by Where It\'s At Is Where You Are records, Rose comes to London for here first ever show in the UK. Don\'t miss this one chance to catch the queen of American indiepop in the UK.

Rose is supported by England\'s very own reclusive janglepop genius, Harvey Williams. Harvey began recording under the name \'Another Sunny Day\' at the end of the \'80s releasing several much revered singles on the Sarah Records imprint before a stint as lead guitarist with The Field Mice.

Under his own name he released two solo albums during the \'90s favouring a more keyboard based sound to compliment his fragile voice and confessional lyrical style. Fresh from a glorious performance at the New York City Popfest, this will be a rare chance to catch Harvey performing in London. The Dreamers are a new Anglo/Swedish project formed by Kevin Wright, formerly of Always (el Records) and also known for his music made as Mr Wright (Siesta Records) and Sarah Nyberg Pergament, also known as Action Biker. Together they create lush acoustic songs with a heavy hint of melancholy. This will be their debut UK performance.

Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Chip Taylor is a Renaissance man whose determination and dedication have permeated all facets of his life.

In the mid \'60s, Chip started combining his country feel with R&B to write songs that, to this day, remain a staple in the American music diet. His ability to write in varied voices and styles is demonstrated in two of his best known songs, \'Wild Thing\' and \'Angel of The Morning\'.

Other Chip Taylor songs that are ingrained in American music are \'Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)\' a performance favorite of Janis Joplin,\'I Can\'t Let Go\' (The Hollies, LindaRonstadt) and \'Country Girl, City Man\' (Ike and Tina Turner).

He released six solo albums in the 70\'s and 80\'s, including Chip Taylor\'s Last Chance. Rolling Stone acclaimed this work as one of the best country albums of 1973. It was one of the forerunners of the renegade cowboy movement containing several hit songs.

Along with producing partner, Al Gorgoni, he also discovered and produced James Taylor (James Taylor and The Flying Machine), and Evie Sands (her version of \"Any Way That You Want Me\" became a big hit in 1968). They also produced Neil Diamond\'s \"Brooklyn Roads\".

As a professional gambler, he was one of the foremost thoroughbred horse race handicappers on the East Coast. When Chip turned his sights on the gaming tables, he quickly gained notoriety with his black jack prowess, finishing third in the World Black Jack Championship in Las Vegas. Taylor became one of the most feared card counters in the land and was ulimately banned from every casino in Atlantic City.

The greatest living country songwriter in a man named Tom Russell. Hes written songs that capture the essence of America, a trait that can only be matched by the countrys greatest novelists.\" [John Swenson, Rolling Stone]

Tom Russell\'s albums in the 21st century have been heavily influenced by his current home city, El Paso. Albums such as \'Borderland\' feature a strong Tex-Mex influence and feature songs of life on both sides of the border.

\"Tom Russell is Johnny Cash, Jim Harrison and Charles Bukowski rolled into one. I feel a great affinity with Tom Russells songs, for hes writing out of the wounded heart of America. [Lawrence Ferlinghetti]

In 2005 Russell released \'Hotwalker\', the second part of a planned \"Americana trilogy\" (the first part being \'The Man From God Knows Where\'). It was another conceptual work largely inspired by his correspondence with author Charles Bukowski. Subtitled \'A Ballad for Gone America\', the album features songs and spoken word pieces, many of the latter delivered by another friend of Bukowski, circus midget Little Jack Horton. The sampled voices of Lenny Bruce and Edward Abbey are also heard on an album which takes the form of a musical collage lamenting the passing of the America of Russell\'s childhood and the Beat generation.

In addition to working on new music, Russell also exhibits his original artwork and organises an annual trans-Canadian \"music train\" featuring workshops and live concerts aboard a vintage long-distance streamline train. This train trek was depicted in Russell\'s 2005 concert/documentary, \'Hearts on the Line\', produced by Canyon Productions, which features a concert with Russell and Andrew Hardin videotaped at Capilano College in Vancouver as well as behind the scenes footage of the music train experience.

Russell\'s latest release is the 2006 album \'Love and Fear\', a collection of original songs that were inspired by the highs and lows of his relationships with women.

A weird and wonderful gem. [The List]

Pat Gubler first appeared on the New York music scene in 1994, as a member of Memphis Luxure, a noise-rock band from Port Chester that also featured Matt Valentine. With Valentine and Helen Rush, Pat went on to form Tower Recordings, a musically omnivorous ensemble that released seminal albums on the now-overlooked-but-then-indispensable Audible Hiss label, as well as Spirit of Orr, Communion and Siltbreeze.

Painstakingly crafted melodies speak softly, often untroubled by electricity, shuffling to a brooding Crazy Horse pulse. A sweetly melancholic songsmith, Gublers tunes ache magnificently, the haunted harmonies of Helen Rush conjuring a dark Laurel Canyon vibe. [Mojo]

Over the last ten years, the band created droning folk masterpieces that are both delicate and daunting in effect and aspiration. Tower Recordings are often referenced as one of the most important representatives of and influences on the current and much-heralded folk revival and it was under their banner that Pat first introduced his nom de plum: P.G. Six.

A beguiling mix of classic Laurel Canyon songwriting and the woodier vibes of the old world.\" [Uncut]

Since 2001, P.G. Six has released many powerful, traditional folk and psychedelic inflected-sounds and shapes, his records infused with warm and intimate tones. Lyrically he invokes motifs from traditional folk alongside the more contemporary and personal.

The Wire included album \'The Well of Memory\' as one of the top ten albums of 2004, a stunning seamless stream of shining tunes, dark hymns and layered drones.

Opening is Pat Whelan, whose strong lyrics, softly sung on gorgeous, slow-burning songs thankfully shed a little light on an artist who would seemingly prefer to remain anonymous.

Portland, Oregon singer songwriter Alela Diane hails from the deep woods and winding rivers of Northern California Gold Rush town Nevada City. Alela grew up singing songs with her parents (both musicians) and performing in the school choir and, during a stay in San Francisco in 2003, she began teaching herself guitar and writing her first songs, blending tense, trance-like arpeggios, with warm, thick vocals and meditative lyrics about family and nature. Her debut album The Pirates Gospel is a powerful document of personal reevaluation and renewal set against the backdrop of generations past and future, mothers and fathers, life, death, and birth.

Alela Diane\'s dread-filled song The Rifle finds a powerful metaphor for feminine sexuality in a story of home invasion, effectively rewriting Neil Young\'s Powderfinger from the daughter\'s perspective. Over a precisely plucked guitar that sounds both solemn and skittish, her grave intonations and the ominous backing vocals imply violence occurring just beyond her words.\" [Pitchfork]

A one-off London show for this remarkable Irish singer/songwriter, Adrian Crowley has recently released the single \'Bless Our Tiny Hearts\' on Fence and follows the same hallowed path as long time collaborator James Yorkston into bleak and beautiful folk. His forthcoming LP (out soon on Tin Angel) cements Crowleys reputation as one of the most consistent songwriters around today with tales about the seas and oceans highlighting the natural depth of his music. A wonderful live act who has performed at the Green Man & Homefires festivals and toured with Adem, Hood, Damon & Naomi and Jose Gonzales.

For the record, Crowley is one of The Luminaire\'s favourite artists. In fact, he provided us with one of our ten best shows, earlier this year.

Main support, Jonquil, make magnificently melodic music that draws from traditional folk, avant-garde pop, pastoral psychedelia and off-kilter noise to achingly good effect. Jonquil are a wonderfully unique act who release Lions in October. Their last album Sunny casinos came 2nd in Nunuworld Music albums of 2006, in the top 20 of Norman Records and Record of the Month for Drowned in Sound. They have recently performed shows with A Silver Mt. Zion, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, Tom Brosseau, Mi & L\'au, Youthmovies & Tilly and the Wall.

The long, sweeping melodies that litter this LP are at times achingly perfect and the laid-back orchestration and bedroom production make for a humbling experience.\" [Drowned In Sound]

Heart breaking and heart warming, raw and fragile, Dear Euphoria is minimalist music behind the soaring, ethereal voice of Elina Johansson. Dear Euphoria breaths frail, heart-ripping beauty of a cracking porcelain-heart and hands out grand, bittersweet punches in the stomach. [CD Baby]

Usually when I picture a song I see a left to right movement. Dear Euphoria songs fly from earth to the sky. They start from the ground by few dark piano notes and then Elina Johansson\'s incredible voice bring them up to the Moon like a somnambulist cloud. [Absolut Noise]

And - proving that the Scandinavian\'s a kinder people than us Brits\' - they\'re giving away a three-track CD tonight to the first 30 people through the door.

We\'re proud to present our new Saturday night disco. Each week Jon from FC/Kahuna and This Time of Night will be joined by friends from the wide, weird and wonderful world of electronic music for an evening of dancing drinking and falling over

The only music policy we have is that we don\'t have one; if it\'s good and makes you wanna dance is all that matters to us.

An accomplished and varied crew of top DJ talent will be joining in to make sure the party\'s always on. Expect the likes of (in no particular order) Paul \'Phones\' Epworth, Ashley Beedle, Cagedbaby, Nathan Detroit, Barry Ashworth, Richard Norris, Justin Robertson, Dan Lywood, Jon Abblett and many more.

As one half of FC/Kahuna, Jon is one of the true pioneers of electronic dance music and has an impressive body of work behind him. The critically acclaimed FC/Kahuna album, \'Machine Says Yes\', went on to sell over 50,000 copies and includes such landmark tracks as \'Glitterball\', \'Hayling\' and the title track itself.

As a DJ Jon has helped to create three of the most memorable London clubs of the last 10 years. The legendary Big Kahuna Burger from 1995 featured many of today\'s biggest names in music including The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Death In Vegas.

Headstart at Turnmills followed in 1999, a truly groundbreaking club experience that championed forward thinking electronic music. Dave Clarke, Andrew Weatherall, Josh Wink and Justin Robertson each joined Jon as monthly residents and Headstart provided the blueprint for many of the tech-edged nights out there.

Up next was 21st Century Bodyrockers in collaboration with Damian Lazarus and the City Rockers label, and once again Jon was at the forefront of pushing new music; Soulwax, Tiga and James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem all appeared here long before becoming the massive acts they are today.

Jon is currently in the studio working on his \'This Time Of Night\' project and has recently completed remixes for Mika, Ali Love, The Rumble Strips and Armand Van Helden.

Spear of Destiny were formed from the ashes of iconic post punk heroes Theatre of Hate, who in turn were formed from front man and songwriter Kirk Brandon\'s first band, original punk rockers, The Pack.

Since their formation in 1983, SOD have been signed and re-signed to Rough Trade, Epic, CBS, Virgin Records UK & US, Chrysalis, Warner Chappell and EMI. They now have their own label - Easter Snow Recording Company.

Their live shows draw on not only their eleven studio albums and new material, but often feature the Theatre of Hate classic independent #1 singles \'Do You Believe in The Westworldy\', \'Legion/Original Sin\' and \'The Hop\'. In recent outings even the first two Pack singles \'King of Kings\' and \'Brave New Soldiers\' have found their way into the set.

As well as Brandon, the all-star line of SOD now features Robin Goodridge (Bush) on drums, Craig Adams (Sisters of Mercy/The Mission) on bass and Adrian Portas (New Model Army) on guitars.

Brandon is also a founder member of punk supergroup Dead Men Walking which has featured, among others, Mike Peters, Captain Sensible, Slim Jim Phantom, Billy Duffy, Mick Jones, Glen Matlock, Bruce Watson, Pete Wylie and Lemmy over the past five years.

Spear of Destiny will release their twelth studio album \'Imperial Prototype\' later this year.

We\'re very, very pleased to welcome Devon Sproule back to Luminaire after an utterly beguiling performance in March.

Devon\'s album \'Keep Your Silver Shined\', was produced by Jeff Romano in the heart of Virginias Blue Ridge mountains. It highlights Sproules talent for combining Appalachian, folk and jazz influences. From the front porch thump of \'Old Virginia Block to the high lonesome traditional \'The Weeping Willow\', featuring fellow Virginia-native Mary Chapin Carpenter, this record finds Sproule making another important contribution to the Great American Songbook.

Sproules own jazz standard Lets Go Out playfully complains, Theres nothing in the fridge / Nothing in the cupboard / The jelly jar is empty / And Im plum sick of peanut butter / A groundhog ate the lettuce / Right out of the ground / Honey, lets go out! A clarinet picks up the tune, backed by the brushes and bass of an able rhythm section.

Born to hippie parents on a commune in Kingston, Ontario, Sproule claims dual citizenship with both Canada and the US. After moving between private, public and home schooling, she eventually left high school, recorded her first record, and began touring nationally -- all before the age of eighteen.
