Cult English band  And Also The Trees bring their acclaimed acoustic show to The Luminaire following a hugely successful European tour playing Carmelite chapels, toy museums and strip clubs.

"Stunningly dark, perfect for long wintry nights. For fans of Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and 16 Horsepower." - Rocksound

And Also The Trees continue to surprise with their acoustic reworkings of the best of their somewhat imposing back catalogue. Anything but unplugged; this venture takes the listener on a journey to the essence of the band – via many compelling, sinister women; deranged loners and the occasional love story.

"Enticingly weird, as though Wim Wenders was brought up in the Midlands. Remarkable" - Mick Mercer

The experience needs to be appreciated live, as And Also The Trees somehow manage to entice the audience into their world. Simon Huw Jones' mastery as front man; part puppet master, part gypsy maverick, completes a quartet capable of such dynamic that songs veer from an almost completely silent stillness to a fractious refrain that alludes to their punk beginnings. No mean feat in an acoustic show.

"An album of astonishing sobriety... a revelation" - Inrockuptibles (France) on 'When the Rains Come'

Their acoustic album 'When The Rains Come' recorded in a barn in Herefordshire, is much closer to new folk than the dark wave scene they're often associated with. Musically, a potent blend of 12 string, double bass, hammer dulcimer and broken accordion feels more Beirut than Bauhaus. Lyrically, their baleful characters and surreal charm evokes Hardy, Faulkner and Huxley. Vocally, Jones graduated from the same class where Mr Cohen first taught Nick Cave his art. But the true success of this acoustic project for And Also The Trees remains in the arrangement of their songs; musical storytelling reminiscent of Scott Walker.

Supporting are Katharine Blake and Nick Marsh. Having collaborated on each others first solo projects as well as material for the Mediaeval Baebes, Katharine Blake (Miranda Sex Garden/Mediaeval Baebes) and Nick Marsh(Flesh for Lulu/The Urban Voodoo Machine) have been performing live together over the last 3 years.

Combining the wistful, ethereal quality of Blake's songs with Marsh's bitter-sweet moodiness, an original and exciting new sound has evolved. They are currently  working on material for their forthcoming joint project.
