Live Nation presents
STRAY LIONS
+ DJ Jadel
Jen and Rakan crossed paths whilst running the Brighton half marathon in England, 2008. On discovering one another's passion for creating music over a few victory beers, they agreed that the London lioness should pair up with her Californian counterpart to create an incredible new sound.
Jen's first song on the guitar as an early teen was a heavily distorted version of Cream's 'Sunshine of Your love.' Walking down the corridor of the music wing at school, she heard three blues musicians jamming and her passion for music was instantly ignited. Several years later at seventeen, she won a battle of the bands contest at Richmond College for her creative song writing. Following this early success, her group was taken under management to tour in the UK and Europe.
She has since worked for a session agency and played with various bands making TV appearances as a bassist on Top Of The Pops, Pepsi Chart Show and Canal Plus on French television. During this time she has been working in the live music industry in a top international booking agency. She organizes extensive tours for established artists and emerging talent, keeping her finger on the pulse of all upcoming trends.
Rakan has been singing and performing since he could speak. Video footage of him from the age of three shows him trying to play a kiddy guitar on his back with his teeth. His early passion for music, and the stage, led him down several musical paths whilst studying theater and politics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Before to moving to London he would perform regularly with his acoustic guitar as a solo, singer songwriter in his hometown of Santa Barbara, California
Jen and Rakan's inspiration for songwriting and lyrics comes from fables, foibles, and experiences with love, trust, control and addiction. Hear Soul Train's foot stomping break beats and the clean acoustic rhythms associated with camp fire escapades; mix in lilting vocals and perfectly synchronized vibrant strings - and you have Stray Lions.
