"In a year that's found both legit and generic loud-to-indie-rock crossing over, Justin Broadrick has intriguingly opted to steer Jesu into gentler waters.... There's still plenty of that patented guitar crunch here, but Silver exhibits a stronger sense of melody, as if the syrupy haze froze a bit and in the process created something more crystalline. The title track neatly posits, "Silver's just another gold"; this EP manages to immerse such precious-metal glimmer into the mire." - Pitchfork Media

Kayo Dot is an avant-garde group that was formed in 2003 by Toby Driver after the disband of maudlin of the Well. They released their debut album Choirs of the Eye on John Zorn's Tzadik label that year. The music of Kayo Dot bridges several genres, from heavy metal to classical music. Their songs involve complex instrumentation (composed by singer and frontman Driver), generally without refrain. They are substantially longer than typical rock songs, often ranging from 8 to 15 minutes in length.

"File under abstract psychadelic art school black metal. Also file under intriguingly engaging and ultimately rewarding. While it will infuriate purists, Caïna actually stays truer to the twilit, introspective nature of the genre than your average Kohl-eyed johnny-come lately. Bleak ambience from a UKBM visionary." - Metal Hammer
