Back in April, Signature Sounds released Eilen Jewell's third album, 'Sea of Tears', a recording that fills in a vital, hitherto missing element of her musical persona. "Before I discovered Woody Guthrie and folk music," she explains, "I was listening to Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and, later on, the Animals and the Kinks. I love that stuff, and I love to play it."

With 'Sea of Tears', Jewell and her longtime band of Jason Beek (drums, harmony vocals), Jerry Miller (electric, acoustic, and steel guitars), and Johnny Sciascia (upright bass) wed her elegantly unflinching songwriting with a rustic, pre-Beatles swagger that encapsulates vintage R&B, Midwestern garage rock, Chicago blues, and early rock and rockabilly, while maintaining the haunting, folk-inspired purity that first made her an artist

Supporting is  Dorset-based singer-songwriter Lou Brown, who is building a following among roots and acoustic fans for her personal blend of country, folk, and pop. Despite winning SouthWest Young Achiever of the Year in 2003, despite recording and releasing a début album that continues to sell and receive radio airplay internationally, despite headline shows in the UK and a tour of America, and despite opening for great artists like Hazel O'Conner, Paul Young, Clive Gregson, Boo Hewerdine, Po' Girl and the legendary Albert Lee, despite all that she's quite shy. So here's what other people have to say:

"She held the audience captivated with her beautiful songs" - Maverick magazine

"You won't hear better songs than those anywhere this year." - Clive Gregson

"Good songs, great lyrics." - Steve Tilston

"We've got her album, it's really good." - Megson
