Anny Celsi and
Nelson Bragg host a night of fantastic pop for the final night of The Anny Celsi 'Tangle-Free Tour of the UK.' The versatile guitarist Nico Wouters will join them this evening, along with Paul Steel and The See See.
With the release of her CD 'Little Black Dress and Other Stories', Anny Celsi evoked comparisons to artists like Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams and Suzanne Vega - all songwriters distinguished by a literary voice that is every bit as vital to the listener as her singing voice. 'Little Black Dress' established Anny internationally as an artist worthy of a second listen. And that second listen is about to arrive.
Continuing in the pop-noir vein of 'Little Black Dress', 'Tangle-Free World' retains Anny's unique "beatnik cool" feel while expanding her musical landscape, with influences ranging from Jimmy Webb and Lee Hazlewood to The Byrds, Dusty Springfield and Burt Bacharach.
Bragg (who is a member of The Brian Wilson Band and played on Wilson's epic 'Smile' album) joins Anny on tour, to accompany her and perform material from his self-produced album 'Day Into Night.' The CD features Bragg's gently gorgeous voice awash with lush harmonies and contributions from the pick of his musical cohorts, producing a striking fresh sound that evolves from his clear love of melodic West Coast music and power pop.
The See See are a pop band from London. NME says they channel The La's and Stone Roses.
Have a listen and hear for yourself. On this night, the sky's the limit in London: show up and hear the best songwriting around from Anny Celsi, Paul Steel, The See See and some Brighton Beach Boys just may show up as well...
