The Queen of fragile and poetic electro-pop, Barbara Morgenstern, appears, this fine evening, in support of the release of her 5th album on Berlin label Monika Enterprise.

It's three years since Barbara Morgenstern’s acclaimed album 'Nichts Muss and her Goethe Institut-sponsored world tour and many recent collaborations with, among others, Robert Lippok and Bill Wells have cleary been an inspiration for this album. Morgenstern’s music has gained a bold maturity. Her unmistakeable voice and warm piano style make for an unique sound. This album is the perfection of minimal elegance; utterly captivating, mesmerizing, interspersed with cacophonies of distortion and bouncing rhythms that give way to sweeping panoramas of pop moments that make the heart soar.

Supporting is Mico, who has recently collaborated with Nitin Sawhney, David Cunningham and Robert Lippok of To Rococo Rot and is currently an Emerging Artist in Residence at the Southbank where she supported Massive Attack in this years Meltdown.

Mico is the essential essence of artist Mieko Shimizu whose stream of conscious poetry set within a cinematic sound clash of fractured musical landscapes attempts to induce in the listener a sub-conscious response, which is further enhanced by her live collaborations with ground breaking visual artists.

Born into a musical family near Mt. Fuj Japan, Mieko works extensively as a songwriter, composer and performer. Initially, she performed in Japan as a singer and pianist and then with her own electro-neo-latin band of two pianos and trumpet, subsequently she scored numerous Manga animated films. She then moved to the UK and released three solo albums and founded the electro-ethno project “Mekong Zoo” with Japanese Violinist Aska Kaneko.

In contrast she created the experimental Drum ’n' Bass project “Apache 61” releasing material on Haruomi Hosono of Yellow Magic Orchestra’s label and with visual artists such as D Fuse and One Dot Zero she established herself at the cutting edge of the art/club culture scene and toured extensively in the UK and Europe. She has just completed her new album “Phenomena of the Mind” ‘ in which she collaborated with David Cunningham (Piano), Barbara Morgenstern (Monika) and Robert Lippok of To Rococo Rot (Domino), which is planned for release in spring 2007.
