An evening to launch a new EP.
Bauer celebrate the UK release of their debut self titled 'Bauer EP' with this headline appearance at the Luminaire.
Following on from the initial spurt of high profile support slots (Snow Patrol, The Ordinary Boys, Stephen Fretwell etc...) and Radio 1 exposure courtesy of one Alan McGhee, the band entered the studio, with Steve Power at the helm to set at work on their debut.
The EP to be released on September 25th through Naz Recordings/Proper Music Distribution, is a glorious culmination of Bauer's short time together. Sometimes shimmering, sometimes wistful, always memorable. Newtown, a Birmingham four-piece who've been busy on the live scene, after supports slots with Keane, and Razorlight to name but a few, have just signed a publishing deal with EMI.
On Christmas Day 2005 they released their first single 'I Luv U'. Backed with the track 'Johnny Wot U Dun That 4' - the theme tune to the internet phenomenon that was www.johnnysrotten.com - from word of mouth, pirate radio and live dates, the single went on to sell over 4000 copies.
Having appeared at the renowned Underworld in Camden and Madam Jo Jos in Soho, Rapid Fiction have also played at among others, the decadently glam Club Bohemia and Deviant nights in Islington, The Twisted Club, The Rhythm Factory, Sound and The Metro Club. They also featured on XFM Unsigned in June 2006, having previously forayed into North-East England.
A single, Pristine 18, will be released in September, which follows the search for the face of the record, attracting 19 models and nearly 24,000 votes on a dedicated site – www.pristine18.co.uk
Since coming under the Management wing of Naz Promotions, things have been busy for Kat Flint. Kat has been a well known name on the London scene for a while now and her talents have been channeled into her debut EP 'The Secret Boys Club', which has followed on from a 16 date UK tour with Rough Trade’s Cara Dillon and high profiles support slots with artists of the calibre of Ed Harcourt. Kat has already seen her career take her abroad to the Peace & Love Festival in Sweden, where she featured with The Cardigans, Patti Smith and The New York Dolls.
