Thu 25th DMP presents TOBIAS FROBERG + Guests
Doors 7.30 “I’m honestly starting to think it might be one of the greatest records ever made. I am!” [Rob Fitzpatrick, The Word magazine] Tobias Froberg - once a magazine columnist and writer in his native Sweden - thankfully decided to change the direction of his career and is now hotly tipped by his record label boss Alan McGee to be ‘the next Scandinavian Superstar’. Like his influences [Simon and Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, The Beatles] he certainly knows how to write a good pop tune and his single ‘When The Night Turns Cold' is already being used in the pan-European ad for Panasonic Lumix cameras. This has drawn obvious comparisons with that other Swedish troubadour Jose Gonzalez, but Froberg’s music is more melodic and less melancholic than that of his countryman. His most recent album 'Somewhere In The City', released in the UK on Poptones, received rave reviews, including a 4/5 review in Uncut.
Froberg is soon to release a new album which features a number of respected musicians including fellow Swedes Peter and John from Peter Bjorn and John and our very own folk darling Kathryn Williams. |
