‘Slow burning, languid pop that pushes all the right emotional buttons’ [TNT]

London based four piece Zillionaire release a brand new EP ‘Not So Beautiful Now’ on 4 December and to celebrate they're playing here tonight. The release is the first in a series of four exclusive download bundles, one of which will be made available every 6 weeks between now and May.
The songs were recorded at Monnow Valley Studios in Wales with producer Paul Schroeder (Stone Roses, The Verve) – reworked from original versions that had been laid down in a bedroom studio on Abbey Road, using just one SM58 mic. Paul and Monnow Valley owner Jo Hunt approached the band after being struck by their distinctive sound at a performance at In The City 2005.

‘Hushed melodic rock that gently edges from the speakers like an angelic little whisper.' [The Downloader]

Frontman Stephan Tomasek’s smoky and emotive vocals, coupled with sweeping Jeff Buckley-esque melodies, lend the band a romantic moody quality which seems to reflect something of their New Zealand roots. The songs speak of the high and low times found in love and life ('Not So Beautiful Now'), the challenges of the morning after that night before ('High Times'), and the loyalty found in the hardest moments friendship can face ('Champagne').

‘An engaging astute melancholy married to a healthy combination of profound pop classicism and sleek guitar shininess.’ [Playlouder]
