The Perran-ar-Worthal Bridge Club Presents a farewell soiree for the now dispersing Hundred Handed with some of their favourite bands and DJs along the way

THE HUNDRED HANDED
+ The Weather Underground
+ Friends of the Bride

Doors 7.30
£5 via WeGotTickets

Hundred Handed offer a distinctive brand of soulful melodies, howled/crooned vocals and off kilter rhythms.
"Aloof, sophisticated, elegant and erudite; hiding a steely edge which they flash with a subtle, buccaneering aplomb, like Cary Elwes' character Westley in The Princess Bride giving the merest hint of a sword sticking out from under his cape, accompanied with a dry, witty comment.” [Josaka.com]

The Weather Underground are a melting pot of raucously thick guitar, tinkling bells and gloriously layered vocals that are lyrically awash with populist satire and poetic quips. In all, it's a pre-apocalyptic aspirational pop effort.

First on are Friends of The Bride, a five piece west coast jazz band from Raynes Park who use the 'Camden Format' of instrumentation; guitar, bass, drums, cheap synthesiser and vocals. They aren't good enough musicians to play jazz, so they play London-style indie-rock instead. The lyrical leitmotif is skits of current social mores.
"Vic Godard fronting Dexys at their best". [BBC]
"The three dollar Steely Dan." [Village Voice]
