Thu 16th Let's Go Baboon presents ADRIAN CROWLEY with full band + The Diamond Family Archive + The Slow Life + Gareth S. Brown + In The Pines [DJ set]
Doors 7.45 Adrian Crowley - our headliner - is a remarkable Irish singer/songwriter over for his first headline show in London, following magnificent appearances at this year’s Green Man & Homefires festival, plus support slots with Adem, James Yorkston and Jose Gonzalez. Think Fence Records, Red House Painters and Nick Drake. More stark, more sparse but equally beautiful. "The most brooding moment of shadow filled pop this side of Black Heart Procession.” [Losing Today] Main support are The Diamond Family Archive, experimental yet always melodic, hinting at Lambchop in hushed vocal delivery backed by a beguiling mix of electronica and traditional instruments. "Strange and tender songs built around layered loops of live guitar, lap steel and electronica. Leftfield, oddball and gorgeous, a beautiful and fragile noise and sublime lo-fi melancholia." [Stolen Recordings] Before that we've The Slow Life, an outstanding new outfit from former members of Rothko and Fourth Quartet, taking Spirit of Eden as the starting point to produce some of the most humbling music around today. The soaring vocals glide over a backdrop of atmospheric melodies. First on is Gareth S Brown: Listen to the remarkable 'Worms' as a preview to a brilliant new record from the former/current member of Hood, and The Unpleasants.
