Wed 30th NEATPEOPLE + Simon Mastrantone + The Amberblacks + DJs Toby & Tim [Transgressive], WayOutWest Caius [Young Turks]
Doors 7.30 New London indie Rekabet Records present a night of showcasing what they have to offer in 2007. Established in March 2006, they've fast become one of the most diverse labels emerging in 2007. NeatPeople's effervescent, classic indie pop harks back the soul of Dexy’s, the tongue in-cheek nature of Blur, the summer-time feel of the Beach Boys and diversity of XTC (NeatPeople incidentally are managed by ex-Food Records boss Andy Ross), Their avowed mission from day one – to stop ‘pop’ becoming a dirty word. "A hearty bijoux bundle of fold out pop." [NME] "These fashionable unfashionable, XTC-loving indie dorks are making the kind of gleefully '80s schmindie rarely heard since the woefully ignored Dogs Die In Hot Cars. We’ve got something quite special here." [The Fly] Simon Mastrantone plays music that roams the lonely back roads between musical genres. Whether it be haunting balladry, twisted angular rock or outright in your face punk, Simon is a diverse modern day troubadour. "Simon Mastrantone's demos have become X-Posure regulars. The prospect of a single later this year is already getting me excited." [XFM’s John Kennedy in Dazed & Confused] "A rather special solo artist in his own right." [powpowpow.com]
