Sat 5th The Luminaire & On The TV presents Girls! Girls! Girls! with... BATTANT + Royal Treatment Plant + Unit
Doors 7.30 Mixing punk attitude with an infectious electro-bass sound, London-based Battant deliver dark, haunting yet catchy pop songs. It all began with a birthday song lead vocalist Chloe wrote for her friend Mole. After a brief collaboration resulting in a couple of rough tracks, the duo recruited guitarist and programmer Tim Fairplay and the live act was born. Battant have played alongside an impressive array of artists including Primal Scream, Lady Sovereign, Acoustic Ladyland, Two Lone Swordsmen and Nitzer Ebb. They have supported both Ladytron and Adult on UK tours, to critical acclaim. In the words of the NME, "Battant bleeds genius out of its ears." Launching direct from the hell-hot brain of a preacher’s daughter who lost her virginity to rock’n’roll and never wants it back, Royal Treatment Plant will seduce you with their edgy punk pop. "Aurally delectable….like Sonic Youth meets a scrubbed Babes in Toyland." (Artrocker), Royal Treatment Plant have been nominated for an Indy Award and made the finals of the Camden Crawl Indie Idle. Their "headrush guitars and icily sweet vocals" (the-mag) have seen them support The Sounds at Club NME, and gain airplay on BBC1, BBC6, Radio Scotland, BBC Newcastle, Xfm, internet radio and podcasts, and various stations on the east coast of the USA. Recently recording new tracks with Teo Miller (Blur, Placebo, The Auters), Royal Treatment Plant are ready to take over 2007. |
