The Luminaire presents
THE PONY COLLABORATION
+ Pacific Ocean Fire
+ Lionshare
Doors 8.00 £5 via WeGotTickets
Headliners The Pony Collaboration formed at the arse end of 2002 and, operating between Cambridge and London, offer a peculiarly English take on what is commenly referred to as 'Americana'. With an ever expanding line-up featuring piano, glockenspeil, melodica, viola and percussion, their sometimes chaotic live sets have earned favourable comparisons to acts such as Sparklehorse, The Delgados and Broken Social Scene.
Not to be missed.
Pacific Ocean Fire have been described as ?The sound of Peggy Lee and Dennis Wilson crashing their car into Bright Eyes' front room.? It has also been described as ?desolate and time weary? by Careless Talk Costs Lives. Their last E.P 'Roadsigns' secured them a deal with American label Smokeylung Records.
"Music to ache to, music to clutch yourself to, music to sing along with ,This is simply glorious." [Americana UK]
"This is one for all things 'alt' although much more akin to Lytle and Linkous than Case & Cash." [Comes With a Smile]
"As the sun sets POF are heading toward something quite beautiful & most excellent." [Drowned in Sound]
Support comes from Lionshare.
"With all the stately dolorousness of early Leonard Cohen, they combine guitar, cello, and melancholy with strong, quiet hands. Its beautiful, mood-swung, post-psych folk." [The Wire]
"A beauty of a single on Cambridge's Harvest Time label. this is gentle folk influenced americana, haunting with guitar, cello and harmonica. [Rough Trade Shops]
