THE IRRESPRESSIBLES
+ Larkin Grimm
+ Helene

Doors 8.00
£5 via WeGotTickets

Larkin Grimm was born in a Memphis, TN commune and grew up in Dahlonega, Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachians with a family of singers and fiddlers. 'Harpoon', her debut CD, reflects these rustic influences through a modern, psychedelic filter. Larkin's intense, ecstatic voice with swirling multi-tracked patterns recalls the richness of Illuminations-period Buffy Sainte-Marie and the sparkle of Linda Perhacs. Her instrumentation includes duclimer, pennywhistle, bells, drums and guitar. She has also played shows with folks such as Entrance, the Microphones, Viking Moses and Old Time Relijun.
On main support duties, The Irrepressibles fuse an emotional sensitivity with an unbridled urgency to transgress the popular music form with their neo-orchestral experiments.
"The Irrepressibles ride on the cusp of danger.? [Flux]
? Incredibly moving? [Playlouder]
?Fantastically theatrical? [BBC Collective] "Refreshingly disturbing? [ManchesterMusic]
First on is Helene whose bruised, blues-inflected tones could melt the hardest of hearts. Her first album 'Postcard' is a beautiful, brooding masterpiece, winding its way along a dark and thrilling path which is occasionally illuminated by flashes of glorious light. Emotions are brutally bare and her voice sometimes sounds desperately vulnerable.
