Sat 16th Clash Magazine presents Club Clash THE BISHOPS + The Kissaway Trail + Radar + Clash Magazine DJs
Doors 8.00 Clash Magazine return once more after last month’s sell-out, sing-your-soul-out, intimate gig with The Kooks. Tonight we present a trinity of fine musical fettle with two bands who have just dropped exceptional debut LPs and an old favourite returning for more of their delicious dub inflected observations. The Bishops: having played one of our formative Clash Clubs we were stunned to hear the leap in their sound on their debut LP on 1234 Records. Delving even deeper in a delightfully nostalgic '60s Beat sound, this slick trio (featuring two brothers) recall the acerbic rock and roll of yesteryear but with a nod to the youth of today. Come and catch these ascendant upstarts in such an intimate venue before your belief is beggared at the back of a stadium. The Kissaway Trail: Clash label fave Bella Union just can’t stop unearthing stunning bands from overseas. Having already gifted us the aural delights of the Dirty Three, Midlake, Explosions in The Sky, Howling Bells and The Dears, they recently presented The Kissaway Trail; a troupe of Danes whose epic rock is seared with strings and the pleading needs of the Flaming Lips and the Arcade Fire. Not two bands that Clash would namecheck lightly. A must-see whilst they are on these shores. This is Radar. A line-up of such distinction and musicality requires a dead cert opener. Radar are this band. Fusing the dirty skank of the Dead 60s with the London consciousness and guitar fuzz of The Clash, Radar are a 21st Century hybrid band straddling dub, reggae, rock, indie and spoken word. The 16th in the continuing Clash Club legacy follows blinding previous events that played host to The Kooks, Jeremy Warmsley, Action Plan, Radioclit, Spektrum, The Fratellis, Apartment, Pull Tiger Tail, 747s, Midlake, Deaf Stereo, The Sunshine Underground, Union Of Knives, Radar, The View, Larrikin Love, Captain Black, The Rank Deluxe, The Bishops, The Crimea, Vatican DC, Vincent Vincent & the Villains, The Rumble Strips, Battle, Pete & The Pirates, Tiny Dancers, Envelopes and many more.
Clash , the groundbreaking and award-winning bimonthly music and fashion magazine, is proud to continue its association at London’s Luminaire in Kilburn. |
