Headliners
The Needles formed approx a million years ago in a faintly dull city called Aberdeen. They set about mixings '50s rock 'n' roll influences, a big dollop of 'Nuggets' and punk rock, and gigged to buggery. Now relocated to Glasgow, The Needles are like Satans own High School prom band, all insurgent pop-flecked punk shockers, angular shape-throwing and a deluge of hormonal anthems delivered with the precision of a frontline soldier. Not for nothing are they called The Needles; music doesnt come any more direct or spikier. New single 'Dianne' is released on June 5th.
Main supporters
The Schla La La Las are, according to Everett True, a 'London band (which) matches the pop swagger of early Headcoatees to the fuzzed-out surf sounds of all those excellent 'Girls from The Garage' Sixties compilations, then throw in several barely in-key shouted harmonies and... man, this sounds like The Fizzbombs! Whoa. Respect.'
The Schla La La's like to bring the party, and as this is George Schla's birthday, expect a mess.
It Hugs Back met at school aged just 11. The three youngsters finally founded their band in 2005 and have already received radio play for their self-recorded demos, as well as garnering high praise for a series of low-key appearances. Their delicate, folksy music has drawn comparisons to Wilco, The Lemonheads, Sebadoh and the softer works of Sonic Youth.
