Silver Sun released their critically acclaimed eponymous debut album in 1997, characterised by strong vocal harmonies and energetic choruses. This London quartet are fronted by the bespectacled James Broad, a man whose sometimes perverse lyrics are surrounded by sugar-coated melodies drenched in a heavy buzzsaw guitar attack and heavenly harmonies which fall somewhere between the Buzzcocks and Cheap Trick. The band reformed to produce a third album in 2004, and have just finalised album number four set for release sometime in 2006. This is a one-off show before they head out to tour Japan.
Wojtek Godzisz makes his long-awaited return to the world of music after a youth spent writing and playing in Symposium ['Best Live Band In The UK' - Melody Maker]. Still a phenomenal stage presence, Godzisz's solo material is at once triumph over adversity and tainted with a new worldly experience.
The Patty Winters Show are a new 3-piece from London, who would like to think they sound like the melodic genius of The Bangles mixed with the subtle complexity of Shellac. Luckily, they've been likened to The Wedding Present, Stellastarr* and Belle and Sebastian. Short, sharp and snappy, they're set to release their debut single 'People Like Us Aren't Meant To Win Things' on the Tigertrap label in July.
