Wed 23rd Junior Aspirin Records present THE REBEL + Socrates That Practices Music + DJ Jerome
Doors 8.00 Due to unforseen forces of destiny, Skill 7 Stamina 12 and Man Aubergine will not be performing on Wednesday. All the more room for the mighty sounds of The Rebel and Socrates that Practices Music, brought to you by London-based label Junior Aspirin. and of course.... Maidenhead’s acid house DJ legend DJ Jerome comes out of retirement to bring us once more the gospel according to DJ Deeon, Nitro Deluxe and Karlheinz Stockhausen R.I.P. According to Plan B magazine, ‘Socrates That Practices Music gabble and scratch, something akin to a brittle but dancable 1979 band (Glaxo Babies) being fronted by a self-consciously literate wordsmith (Mark E Smith or David Thomas). Melodies are taunted then spat out, loop around themselves in rhythmic abandon; hibernate in bearded acclaim.’ Socrates’ debut album Conclusions Against an Italian version will be available at the foot of a silver birch tree somewhere in Hampshire upon its completion. |
