Sun 31st Vice, SMBD!, Ghost City & Real Gold presents: FUCKED UP + The Down & Outs + Self Destruct + Dirty Money + Frightener + DJs Deano Jo & Real Gold
Doors 8.00 until 04.00 See in the new year with Canadian hardcore legends Fucked Up and Liverpool's finest punk band The Down And Outs. Support comes from Yorkshire punks Self Destruct and a split set by two new London bands; Frightener and The Dirty Money. Expect a party atmosphere, singalongs and DJs from the The Real Gold stable to keep you partying until the early hours. We're opening a list of limited reserved places to people coming from out of town. This means that if you're trekking from Liverpool, Brighton, Holland, Wales, Newcastle and so on you will be guaranteed entry as long as you get there before 9pm New Cross does not count as "out of town", neither does Hackney or Croydon for that matter. If you can reach Luminaire using London Transport you'll just need to get down early.
Please email the first name and surname of everyone coming to southerndiscomfort@gmail.com Released earlier this year via Jade Tree F**ked Up’s ‘Hidden World’ is cloaked in shades of unconventional aesthetics, symbolic overtones and a self-proclaimed “culture of confusion” making it one of the best proper "hardcore" albums in a long long time! “The second coming of hardcore... They are incredible.” – [Maximum Rock N Rock] And now they have confirmed a series of shows to liven up the Christmas holidays including a special New Year’s Eve show at London’s Luminaire. “a sprawling maze of punk, hardcore, garage and rock influences .. Welcome to the dawning of the new age of punk rock…” [Kerrang] The band’s first full length studio album, marks a turning point for this highly schizophrenic but mysterious Toronto band, transcending the boundaries of punk with melody, aggression, expansive structures and enigmatic diatribes on what lies underneath the immediate, visualized world. Fucked Up combine confrontational ideologies with deliberate misinformation to produce a brutal analysis on thought provocative punk. “Everything that made you love punk rock in the first place is here, right where you left it in one of the year’s most stunning and layered albums.” [Plan B] Their reputation proceeds them wherever they go. They shun the likes of Myspace yet have amassed a loyal following throughout the world (including the likes of The Arcade Fire - Owen Pallet even plays on several tracks of Hidden World - Jarvis Cocker and Bloc Party); have sold-out venues such as New York’s prestigious Knitting Factory with no promotion in the slightest; and releasing their very ltd edition singles which now trade for hundreds of dollars on ebay. "An unpredictable, offensive, confused and stunning punk beast” [Big Cheese] “This shit is to be cherished….” [Terrorizer] Think Wipers, Negative Approach, Black Flag and Minor Threat - F**ked Up are dangerous and unpredictable in a time when punk has become a manufactured watered down commodity. “It’s the kind of record that makes hardcore’s possibilities seem exciting once more.” [Uncut]
