More on and Futurecop soon.

Cobra Dukes are no ordinary band. Ghostly synthesisers and bubbling Moog lines weave through their songs while the drums punch like lost tape loops from Cat People or Midnight Express.

Kyle Gibson’s dramatic vocal hooks rebound off the rhythms like a Psycho Killer-era David Byrne shouting down CBGBs before Lucas Gianello’s guitarisms takes hold and teleport you into new wave delirium. Think of your favourite band and then think again, because there isn’t one that sounds like these guys.
But why take my word for it? “I love it,” says Mylo of one of the remixes on their first single, “it's as good as anything I've heard this year."

Like the soundtrack to a lost John Hughes movie, the music of Manz, Manchester’s finest - and main support tonight - Futurecop is a heady mix of synthesisers, teenage crushes, power chords and alcohol. Imagine Kavinsky had the kind of younger brother that was always looking to start something and you’re there.

Sick of supplying the chat to the tired playlists at Radio 1 in Scotland, Gill Mills, back in September 2005, moved to London, set up iCast and delivered the UK’s first, fully licensed music podcast. Nearly two years and over 100 podcasts later, Gill has provided iPod-ease to the likes of Bloc Party, the Cribs and Patrick Wolf while her Best of Myspace podcasts at www.icast.uk.com are a web A&R resource second to none.

Marcus Lancaster is a legend is his own lunchbox. He has produced Cobra Dukes, Man Like Me, Ed Laliq, amongst others. His favourite song of all time is, worryingly, by Bonnie Tyler.

prestel.tv is the new company from Breastfed Records (Mylo/Linus Loves) and Glasgow Underground (Romanthony/Idjut Boys) founder Kevin McKay. Leave The Light On” is the first in a series of parties featuring the label’s artists & friends.
