STAFF

Go right ahead and read a bit about the good people who make this award-winning venue tick. We updated the pictures a while back to help you decide whether or not we're worth hitting on when you visit, which isn't to say they're all single...

^ Lumi was co-founded and is co-owned by Andy Inglis [pronounced Ing-gills, not Ing-gliss], along with John Donnelly (more about John down at the bottom of the page). You can email him here. Feel free to engage him in conversation about the rums of the world (particularly those from Venezuela and the Dominican Republic), the nuances, history and theory of tie knots, and Norway, a country dear to his heart, although his heart was slightly broken there in 2009. No, not by a woman. He has a heart of granite, see. He occasionally toys with growing a beard with great success (and as of December 2009 it is getting out of control). If you're looking for a gift for him (perhaps to thank him for guest list - not enough people say thanks for guest list in this business), cake is always a winner. Good cake, though. No cheap rubbish. Expensive tarts, that kind of thing. Or a return airline ticket to Oslo. Or a Superga jacket from around 1998. Or a Left Hand Thermojoint coat that actually fits him, instead of the one he bought instead of buying the Superga jacket, even though the Thermojoint is 4 sizes too big for him. Andy chose the photo above because it thinks it shows that he has moves on the dancefloor (that's him on the right), and also because it was taken in New York in June 08, which gives him the chance to demonstrate that he is the kind of guy who will just drop everything and take off to New York when he feels like it to bust some moves. We are happy to allow him his delusions.

^ Our General Manager is Mr. Danny Black, California's last living cotton-picker. He started out around here as our Artist Liaison but then we recognised his true calling, and promoted him. He keeps the bar in shape (and also The King's Head), the beers flowing and the staff in line and good working order. An important man, then. Get in touch with him here. And if you work in fashion then perhaps you can dissuade him from wearing that hideous purple hoodie he insists on putting on. Check him out up there on his moped. Thinks he's Evel Knievel’s son or something...

^ Andy's assistant - and chief Artist Liaison - is Frid Solheim. Frid is Norwegian, which is why she got the job, so it was lucky for us that she is also good at it. The job, not being Norwegian. But she is good at being Norwegian too. Sometimes Frid brings us cookies from Ben's Cookies and when that happens she is about our favourite person in the world, and certainly our favourite Norwegian. You can email her here if you would like her to bring you cookies too. Frid used to translate the Playboy Channel from English to Norwegian. Frid has recently brought to our attention that no-one ever brings her anything, and since she likes Ben's Cookies so much, perhaps a kindly customer would oblige her.

^ Our head sound engineer is Mr. Arthur Swindells, a Canadian gentleman with a fine moustache (far finer than the half-arsed beards that Andy toys with, some would say), giving him the commanding air of a circus ringmaster. Arthur is fluent in English and French and also mostly understands Andy's Scottish accent, so he is able to translate for the rest of us. We have posted a picture of Arthur so that all can see just how fine his moustache is, and you can email him here to give him your feedback on said upper-lip adornment.

Leigh Rowse is our second-incommand Artist Liaison. Leigh is young and enthusiastic but we continue to try to knock that out of her. She has a love for Conor Oberst that runs so deep she is frequently wracked with pain, which can be a little embarrassing in Sainsburys. Send a picture of Conor to her here.

^ Tim Ferguson is one of our two house photographers and we're very pleased to welcome him on board. At the time of writing we had only recently met so we didn't know much about him, other than his name was (and still is) Tim Ferguson, and he took real nice pictures. You can see for yourself here. Well, we asked Tim to tell us a bit about himself, and this is what he said, which leads us to believe he's single and very willing indeed to meet all-comers for fun, frolics and possible romance:

"Designer by day. Musician by night. Keen eye for photography. Likes to travel to foreign cities and explore at length (3 - 12 months) on bicycle capturing sounds and sights. I'm on the cusp of Virgo and Libra for what it's worth - so you get to pick which you prefer when we get it on, and then later when you're looking for an out, you're free of concience to switch then dump... Want to know more? Call me... I'm easy..."

Luckily, he did not provide his phone number.

^ Our other house photographer is Anika Mottershaw. We asked her to give us some descrptive words on herself and this is what she delivered to us: "I like taking photos, going to gigs, illustrating, drawing comics, making animations and I promote my own shows too. I'm 19 years old and moved to London a year and a half ago from Kent to go to university to do business. I didn't like it very much and dropped out, got lots of work experience, and worked at Songkick all summer, and now I get to do fun stuff like draw all day and make music videos. I've been to over 200 gigs since I moved to London. And I write this blog here where I get all swoony about bands I love."

^ The land that The Luminaire (and the KIng's Head) stands on is owned by Mr. John Donnelly, who very kindly let Andy convince him that a live music venue in Kilburn was a good idea. John Donnelly keeps the ship afloat. You will never see John Donnelly and Chuck Norris in the same place.

John Donnelly doesn't sleep - he waits.
